cw: violent imagery

The crow with bile feathers swoops upon the stele,
crying that it's sick of holding up the moral high ground
for someone's victimhood,
only to be trounced, the fruit of worms stolen from its beak
when its spine cracks or its eye bursts into pomegranate seeds.

You do not speak of hard feathers,
those strange things that run
like rivulets down a rooftop,
there -- upon the breeze,
directionless wind vane
and your leather-worn ideals there
becoming a quill
becoming the ink-coloured sun.
