I am leagues removed from being a poet, so if I'm signing up for this, I must be mad indeed. XD
But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
— Paul the Apostle

Poems are due by 04/10/2020 22:00 PDT (10 PM PDT). You can edit or change your entry up until that time, but the final entry is due by that time, in a message posted in this thread.

From each group, two people will advance, resulting in eight people proceeding to the next round. However, the last remaining 10 will participate in a redemption round. People were grouped together by inserting the usernames into a randomizer.

Also, all poems submitted must have been written in April.

Have fun!

@fraey
This is probably a very silly question but it's just one poem per round right?

There are no silly questions! ^^

@Gravitem Just one poem per round, yes! And poems cannot be reused for any round besides the final one.

Hi @Rin321 !

To answer your questions:

A - you submit your poem by either posting that text or a link to the poem in a message in this thread!

B - Yes, please do not repeat poems. You submit a different poem each round.

Hope that clears up your questions!

It's a little early, but I like this poem and wanted to make sure I remembered to put it in as a submission. Here's the link to where it is in my thread, and the poem itself is down below in the spoiler.

Spoiler
april 5th, 2020: remnants

standing in the cold springtime air
i let myself forget
about the to-do list
i carefully typed out
yesterday morning.

i dig my shovel into
the soft, dark earth.
i methodically scoop
roots and weeds and
the clumps of horseradish
that were forgotten
after last fall.

dressed in the
old, hole-ridden hoodie
i took care of our
chickens in,
my dad’s old work gloves,
and hiking boots
that hurt when i wear them
for too long,
i am no longer the girl who
sits silently
in the front row of
my college classes.

i’m the remnant
of a time long gone.
i’m a wild anomaly
in a perfect, digital world.
i’m a girl who never
will exist outside of the context
of my house
and weekend mornings
spent working
underneath the gray sky
and the hot, hot sun.

queer and here.
