Tootsie Roll Pops

How many licks does it take to get to the toosie roll center of a tootsie pop?

I wouldnt be able to tell you. I'm a biter. I bite hard candy. Any hard candy. I suck on it for a minute or so and then I bite.

Entirely dependent on several things -

1) Length of lick
2) Strength of lick
3) Size of tongue

That's a far too general question. It's different for every person/thing.

P.S. I have no idea what a Tootsie Pop is.

You don't know what a Tootsie Pop is?!?!?!?!? Well, most people probably don't know what a Violet Crumble is because they're buried in the British section of International Foods so I guess we're even.

It's a sucker with Tootsie Roll candy in the middle. The question has been in several commercials and even T-shirts.

Well, after numerous tests of tedious, pain-staking licking, I once got 988, then after that I got 673, and then 907 or so. Yeah, like Firestarter stated, it depends on length and strength of lick.

I actually did do this once on a long drive from Kansas City to Springfield (though it only lasted half the trip) and I counted to 784 licks.

That was hard, let me tell you. The temptation to bite down was great.

Everytime I get a tootsie pop, I always mean to find out. But after lick number two, the entire thing is gone.

I would have guessed. I mean, Nate can devour anything.

Actually yeah, what always happens to me is that I accidentally bite it and it breaks in half or I forget what I was doing and stop counting.

The first time I tried, I got to 1,000 and said, "Screw this." then I ate it in one bite.

The second time I got 1,746.

So there is your answer!
