Hello, everyone and good afternoon. :)

My name is Kel and I'm rather an amateur writer. Sure, I got excellent marks in English and Literature, not to mention Creative Writing (both high school and college levels), but I've yet to actually finish a novel outside of RL Stine-induced hilarity. That was back in 5th grade or so?

I have three cats. Squee, Coffee and Osiris. I also have a dog! Barleybear. They're my babies. My husband is my treasure and I really do treasure him!

I'm 24 years old and have been married for 4.5 years, now. We started dating at 13 and 15. So, all you romantics, love can start just that early. :) It did for me.

I'm not really sure what else to put? Um. One of my great dreams is to be a mother to an actual human baby! But that'll happen when it happens. I'm Catholic. My husband and I converted this past May. So we're still pretty new at it!

I found this place through NaNoWriMo. :) Thank you for having me!

I forgot to add that I do all of my writing in notebooks. I transfer them onto the computer, but I do prefer the good old fashioned notebook with a ballpoint pen. Only with ballpoint do you get the fluff effect with your college-ruled paper!

Thank you very much, Elizabeth!

The name happens to be my real name, only shortened. Next April, we're going to be having a Convalidation ceremony, so our marriage will be valid in the eyes of the Catholic Church.

Sort of like a second wedding, but to the same man. :D

I'm afraid I only write in the fantasy genre! And I don't know how wise I am.

Of course! I'll be on MSN later, after I write some on my NaNotes. :)

Your signature reminded me how bread is my favorite food. I might make some bread later in my bread machine!

Hey, Kel, and welcome!

Have you done NaNo before? I'm doing it this year as well...my first year! So I'm currently running in frantic circles, like a chicken with its head cut off...

Lovely visual, eh? ;)

Ohhhh... *in awe* Bread machine... I love bread.

Hi, Kel! I have to say, I love your name, because that's a shortened version of my real name as well. Must be a cool person thing. :P

If you need anything feel free to PM me. See you around!

Cassandra: Better than a chicken with clothespins on its feet! My husband's uncles did that to over 50 chickens on the farm they had when they were little! Their mother was so angry. She had to pluck and freeze so many chickens!!

This will be my second year doing NaNo. :) I did it last year, but didn't reach 50,000. I can't say it was a failure because I actually did try to do it. I just didn't reach my goal, but I tried.

What genre are you writing?

Areida: I love bread, too! My NaNo name is Toast! :D We're the best! Thank you for the delightful welcome. I feel warm inside. <3

Hmmm. Good question. XD

No, seriously. I do have a good portion of the plot outlined, I just don't know what genre it is really. I need some serious help. XD

Any tips you want to share, being a veteran? *is hysterically anticipating November 1*

Um. Don't restart your story halfway through!

I did that last year and I bombed because of it. :)

Don't stress out about researching every little thing. I also did that last year. I got really technical for how they even stored root vegetables in medieval times. So don't get bogged down in the technical stuff. Just make it up and look it up later. You can always fix it when/if you go back and edit.

It's good to share plots, but at the same time, it opens it up for critique you just don't need yet. So share anything you want to share NOW and not in November. It'll make you want to go back and re-write, and that's not what NaNo is about.

Make mass meals. But you're 14, so you don't have to worry about that. :x I make a big pot of chili and eat on it for a couple of days. I can also freeze it in baggies and drop it in a pot, heat it up, and eat it whenever I please!

A good way to boost wordcounts (from NaNo's book "No Plot"), is the 30/10.

30 mins of writing. 10 mins break. 30 write. 10 break. 30 write. :) It gets your count up there pretty quick!

Thankies! This is just what I was looking for. :D

I definitey won't restart my plot...I haven't even started writing yetting, and already I really like what I've come up with so far. So yeah. No problems there. ;)

Hey Kel! Welcome to the site. I forced everybody to call me Jack, and it stuck. So hey! I'm Jack.

Haha! You went through my ad at NaNoWriMo *feels smug*

I was using that to [s]catch unsuspecting edible members[/s] get great new members in!

Be sure to keep me posted on your progress, Cassandra! :) If you're on the NaNo site, add me to your writing buddies. I'm Toast.

Thank you, Jack! I probably did. Now wipe that smug look off your face, young man, before I turn this thread around. I can say that because I'm older. *feels smug*

Yeah, you might be older, but I'm an admin! :P

I'm doing NaNo too ... historical fiction, and my research is totally lacking. I'm trying to read three Greek history books at once, which doesn't help the brain, while constantly finding that my plot doesn't make sense most of the time in that period (just this morning I had to change the age of my character to make it more believable when he was getting married).

I really bogged myself down in research last year. I am not doing that this year. It's too much of a downer. Which is why I pick the fantasy genre. If I don't know it, I can make it up and them make up a reason for it to be that way. :)

My dad has a saying. "I wish I was young enough to know everything." I find it to be true in most cases. I thought I knew everything about the Greeks just by learning their myths! And I know, now, that I know nothing of them besides their myths.
