The best way to explain how dungeons work would simply be to simulate one so, let's get started.
We have accepted a mission from King Bastian. Always super important. Never a waste of your time. Today, he wants us to bring him the famed Dayfall Fruit for his breakfast. All it's gonna take is a simple trip into The Forest of Unforgiving Night.
Start
At this signal, all communication within the SB turns into roleplay.
The Forest of Unforgiving Night is a one-room dungeon. There is one enemy, one 1-dice chest, and one Prize.
1: Vampire Bunny (1); 15hp, 1xpThe "(1)" indicates how many dice this creature can roll.
This will layout how many enemies, chests, doors, etc., are in a room. Watch out for these italics posts at the beginning and end of our posts because they will contain essential information. Let's have Lord Chester show us how to fight enemies.
/grumbling/
"I'm one more Breakfast mission away from quitting."
*targets Vampire Bunny*
"Bone Breaker!"
*20000000000000000000 dmg to Vampire Bunny. Vampire Bunny dies. +1 xp*
/still grumbling/
*end turn*
Of course, Lord Chester is doing far more damage than any of us would. Let's try that again with Janet.
*targets Vampire Bunny*
"Fury From Above!"
Now here, Biscuits could choose to illustrate this combo for us, giving a little "cutscene" type break in the Role Play. This is optional. If you're in the mood for some action writing, go ahead! If not, you can simply post damage.
*18 damage to Vampire Bunny. Vampire Bunny dies. +1 xp*
*end turn*
Well, turns out that Janet is a heavy hitter as well. But what if she wouldn't have used a combo? You can just do regular hit damage by rolling your dice. You do not need to do a combo to attack. Let's have Ari take a whack at it.
*targets Vampire Bunny*
"Soul Gather!"
Succesful Weapon Enchant!
*Hit: 2 dmg to Vampire Bunny. New Health: 13*
Looks like Ari didn't quite beat that monster. Vampire Bunny now gets an attack.
*5 dmg to Ari. New Health: 15*
We could kill this Bunny, but let's just move on. It's died twice already.
All Enemies have been defeated. Gain: Dayfall Fruit.
You will be rolling for your own damage, skills, buffs, summons, etc. Resolve all of your character's movements and actions on your turn. After you attack, your enemies attack. Enemies do not attack us until we attack them and they will only target someone who has targeted them unless otherwise specified.
Alex is eyeing that chest so let's let him have it.
*Chest Roll: Successful!*
Only I can post loot.
1: Crystal
Crystals can be used for upgrading skills. Also, Chests are first come first serve. But, in attempting a Chest, you will be targeted by all enemies.
End
Any questions on how to roll?
I have changed it so that instead of "betting high or low", whenever you roll against something or someone, you're simply win if your number is higher. However, when rolling for damage, simply do damage equal to the amount totaled on your Dice.
You roll for your enemies, just refer to their Dice number. And actually, with that combo in the Tutorial, Janet rolled 9 twice and enemies can't roll against Specials.
But, in your situation, which is looking to be just a standard hit, Janet would do 4 damage if Bunny rolled anything less than 4. In the case of Bunny matching your roll, the hit is cancelled, nothing happens. But, if Bunny would have rolled 5+, that amount of damage would have been done to you instead.
Also, whenever we finalize all of the Skills, I'll be posting them here so everyone knows what everyone else is packing.
I think it would be reasonable for them to have their own attack phase. You could also just decide that a tie has the same result as either a success or a failure.

Oops! Wasn't subscribed here for some reason. Makes sense why I wasn't getting notifications. That's better. Have we decided who's posting when or is there no set order?
You could do a flashback to your character receiving their summons and then write them heading out of the gate. These first posts are more to just get a feel of our characters in the world and set up some sort of flow between us.
Things don't really start until I post again, so no pressure on these introductions. Just try to channel your character.
Also don't mind the nicknames Alex gave them all. He'd never say them out loud, save maybe "Sunshine" for Ari. You know he may just call him that on the daily. Only in a teasing and not an endearing way of course.
I promise I haven't forgotten about this - just having a really busy week. Can probably do something tomorrow evening but I might be going out to dinner with some friends.

I wonder if people felt the freedom in our culture to love louder, if they'd be quicker to say "I miss you" when the absence of someone is felt instead of just thinking it. — soundofmind
