"Look at the scorch marks."

Jeanine pointed at a few scorch marks on the trunk.

Discord? Possible, but unlikely. Fire wasn't usually their style. Of course, being Discord they were a bit hard to predict...

He brushes his hand along the ashen trunk, sniffing the charcoal. It seems normal enough. "Odd."

Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

"Oh." Li He was at a loss for words.

"What are you, fox-one? Not kitsune, not quite, but...close. Oddly close," Raven inquires.

_______

"Not human. Either a demon or a ghost of some sort, likely the latter." No need for her to know of us.

Jeanine nods. "Oh." She knew full well what Cornyx was, her being stuck with a ghost forever and having a strong knowledge of the supernatural.

((She'd know Cornyx was a demon, and a powerful one, but it'd be unlikely she'd know of the Fell))

"It is curious, though, these burn marks...Quite curious indeed."

((Yeah, that's what I meant.))

"Maybe a fire demon?"

((Alrighty, just wanted to double check :) ))

"Definitely a possibility, but it doesn't smell like hellfire ash."

"Mmm," Jeanine grunts. She thinks. "Ghosts can't wield fire though."

"Maybe a poltergeist that died in a fire or something like that? Possibly a devil of some sort? Could even be a demon who just used a lighter or torch. But then the cut, it has burn marks around it, like whatever was used to slice it was red hot."

"I doubt it," Jeanine says. "I don't think even poltergeists can wield fire. They just move matter around, and fire isn't matter. But the thing is, I don't think a demon would use a lighter or something either. But then again, I've only met one demon."

((Actually, the poltergeist part is true.))

((*shrugs*))

"Is that so?" Not poltergeist, then...haunt, maybe? Was that the word he was looking for?

"Haunt? That's another word for ghost."

"Subgroup," he answers. "Devil, maybe."

((He didn't actually say haunt...))

'Tis the season to shovel enormous amounts of watermelon into your mouth while hunched over the cutting board like a dehydrated vampire that hasn't fed on blood in four hundred years and the only viable substitute is this questionable Christmas-colored fruit.
