Description
Write a short story or poem of less than 500 words based on the following picture, "Brooklyn Bridge at Night" by Edward Willis Redfield (1909):



The work can cover any genre as long as it is based on the picture above.


Rules

• The work should be suitable for ages 12+. This means no vulgar or profane language.
• The work must be less than 500 words and must be submitted to using the contest form (see "How to Submit" above) prior to the deadline.
• You may publish the work first on YWS before submitting it.
• Only one submission per person.

The judges are:

• Lavvie
• Sweater

Please do not contact the judges regarding the contest, with the exception of Nate. If you have any questions, please post them in this thread or send a PM to Nate.

If I were to somehow win, would I be allowed to give the prize to someone else? Can't really have anything shipped to my house because of parents, haha.

This has happened before in the past, and it's an understandable concern. When it happens, what I usually do instead is send a gift card via email.

If it is over five hundred words is that OK? I don't know when to stop sometimes.

Do the codes for italics and stuff work in the submission form?

Once we have submitted our work is there any way for us to see it? Or do we just have to wait until the end of the competition?
