Plot In a distant future... tensions between countries are high. The Japanese are in the first steps of developing animal-human technology for the sole purpose of allowing people to change their appearance for fashion trends and social status. But when the US gets wind of the project, they see a much bigger picture and steal it for themselves to advance the technology and create an army of super soldiers. Taking the blueprints and research for a prototype that was never built, they tweak and advance the technology until they come up with the first working experiment: a chair which-using a mixture of radiation and a special serum-changes the DNA of those who use it to give them the ability the morph into a specific animal. While some of the original scientists were killed upon retrieval of the research, some were captured and forced to help them develop the technology. The chair and Morphing Formula is created in a Top Secret laboratory, tweaking the original research to make the formula stronger, better, and more powerful. The laboratory and it's experiment is so secret in fact, that they couldn't risk a medical trial or telling people they've hired as lab rats the truth about their experiment. No, they have to be much more secretive... Twelve high school sophomore students get the opportunity of a life time when their science class-and only their class-gets to go on a field trip to a working laboratory. Little do they know, their science teacher Mr. Neil is one of the scientists working on the Animorph project and is using his job as a science teach as cover. And little do they know, they're going to become test subjects on the project. And if everything goes according to plan... they may be the first recruits in what the US hopes will be their new army of super soldiers. But the Japanese find out who took their research... and what they're using it for. Being one of the US's biggest enemies in this distant future, they realize Japan will be one of the first targets of the super army. So, the Japanese secret service burns down the lab and kills all the scientists they could find in the hopes of ending USA's attempt to create a super army and possibly take over the world... starting with Japan. As if the ability to morph into animals isn't enough for these twelve teens to handle, Mr. Neil has gone missing-leaving them to figure everything out for themselves and now they feel themselves being watched. By who? They're not sure... The reality? Japan discovers the experiment had already been started and have set out to hunt down and kill the test subjects while the USA is trying to recover them and use their blood to continue the experiments, because they're the only piece of the experiment that survived. And they're not the only ones to catch onto these teens... A rebel organization is watching them, deciding whether to kill them, help them, or try to recruit them. While working to figure out their new found abilities and trying their best to stay out of the crosshairs of these mysterious organizations, the biggest challenge of all may be deciding who they can trust... or if they can trust anyone at all. Communication The Animorphers have discovered they can communicate telepathically. They call this "thoughtspeak". It allows them to talk to each other in their minds whether they're in human form or in animal form. But only the Animorphers can hear it. Family members can't receive it and other animals are oblivious. Ability To Morph and Partial Morph When in transition and their DNA is changing... they may have issues with partial morphing such as getting animal fangs, eyes, claws, tails, etc... that they can't control as well as fully morphing against their will. Once the transition is completed... they will be able to control it better and can only fully-morph. They cannot enhance their senses (hearing, sight, etc...) while they're in human form. However, when emotions are heightened, they may have trouble controlling their new abilities and have some issues with glowing eyes, growling, claws and fangs coming through. @TheFantasy14, nice intro post! You've implemented some of the character relationships nicely.

And @Chaser, that was an epic post! It made me laugh. xD Great characterization.

I assume the schedule is no longer required, then? No problem.

Oh, but have any of you decided on backwards -writing? *receives mostly blank stares* That would be a no. Well, backwards-writing is when you retell an already described event from a different character's perspective. For example, Riley's post ends after school; if backwards-writing is prohibited, then everyone else's posts would have to take place after it. However, since many of you probably planned on writing during the first day, I'd say it should be allowed.

In general, though, avoid large time jumps, since they often interfere with others'plans. Nevertheless, that was a good post, @TheFantasy14!

PS: From now on, I'll only post here when I have something important to say, so just pretend I'm not here.

EDIT: Three posts are submitted between the moment I started writing and the moment I clicked submit? You should all have been beavers. XD (Please tell me someone gets the joke... *cries*)

EDIT 2: Where'd those two posts come from? You lot are really eager. (Pompey Magnus, perhaps?)

Haha, thanks! Neon's been a blast to write for. Basically, there are three words to keep in mind: Kitten of Darkness.

On the other hand, now that the SB is starting, I suggest that we all place our characters' personal information (relationships, banner links, etc.) in their profiles for easier access.

The hardest part of writing science fiction is knowing actual science. The same applies for me and realistic fiction.

@AstralHunter

I think backwards writing will be nessisary in this storybook considering they're all going through the same things in different ways. It should be okay as long as each post is different enough from the last and adds something to the story.

Hi, I attached my list of compiled info to this message in a PDF. It may not be what some people had in mind and others can certainly post their own files of compiled information, but this is what I put together for personal use and thought I'd share it in case it was helpful to anyone else. It has some info on each character, if they have a crush, if someone has a crush on them, and what all the other characters think of them, as well as full pictures. Again, I apologize if the pictures aren't as you imagined and I'm happy to change any if you find one more fitting, but I put them up so I myself would have a picture reference for each character. Thanks!

-Lefty

P.S. I just got home so I'll go catch up on all the posts! Yay! Very exciting.
