This was an interesting project I had to do in my English class. We had to read Sound of Thunder by Ray Bradbury, and then compose a poem solely from passages of the story. This was written by me and my friend. I'd highly suggest trying this kind of poetry--it's fun.

Perhaps Europe is forever a dark forest. . .
The jungle is the whole world-
For ever and ever
Full of twittering, rustling, murmurs and sighs.
Out of the mist came a butterfly
It moved into the sunlit arena
Only a soft breath, a whisper
It floats six inches above the ground
An aurora that flickers-
Now orange, now silver, now blue!
”Not a little thing like that! Not a butterfly!”
An exquisite thing-
A small thing that could upset balances
Billions of life forms thrown into chaos

Step on a butterfly, and you leave your print like a Grand Canyon across Eternity

Oh! Fun thing to do!

A small thing that could upset balances
Billions of life forms thrown into chaos

Maybe you can add a couple of other snippets of line?

Still, nice.... Your teacher sounds fun. :)

I don't know if she'll be fun. She seems rather mean so far. Oh well, it was a good project, and a useful writing activity, I think. Thanks for you comment.

I liked the detailed descriptions and the images of colour the poem had. it keeps the reader gripped also by the sounds described. Good piece of a writing.

That is about the most creative exercise in poetry I've heard of! And you did an excellent job of choosing passages in the book to form a well-thought, well-formed, and simply beautiful poem. I love butterflies too. :D

Thanks! It was really fun to do. I highly suggest it to anyone--especially someone like me who otherwise suffers in poetry writing.
