Hey there! I saw you left a comment on my poem "Her Name is Peace"! For your question as to what heather is, its basically like a ground-covering shrub with lots of tiny purple flowers that usually grow in meadows. I wanted something like field, but that unfortunately doesn't rhyme with feather! I also have a question for you: what exactly don't you understand exactly about the "calling her at our best" part? I wanted to make it as if society will demand peace only when it is ready for it (at their best), and the "give her a chance" part is an allusion to John Lennon's song, "Give Peace a Chance" (I thought this way it would tie into the title). Is there a way for me to make my intent clearer?

distantdreamer21 Hey Cassandra! Thanks for following up on my comments! The heather piece is a lot clearer now that you told me what it is! :) For other readers who do not know of it, I believe it is a little more complex.
Concerning the "calling at her best" part, I would maybe mention the famous quote by Bob Marley said when the power of love overcomes the power of hate, the world will know peace of something of that sort.
The John Lennon allusion is great! Like I stated above, I think it was just difficult to automatically know that while reading and could be a little confusing to readers who haven't heard of the song.

I would suggest maybe a footnote at the bottom or even the top of your work to state what the intent of your poem is.. That way when the reader comes across the heather section or the "Give peace a chance" allusion, they can understand your work more clearly.

Thanks again for filling me in, I understand your poem much better! :)

    Keep on writing!
