I just finished reading your story Silent Sakura and noticed you were a new member, so.. welcome to YWS! This is honestly the friendliest and most relaxed internet community I've ever come across, so I hope you have a lot of fun here and that you're able to find those writing buddies you're looking for. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or if you just want to chat.
Also, it's cool to see another fan of Samurai Champloo here. Mugen's awesome c:
smokeyyyyThanks for the warm welcome! I already am catching the peaceful and friendly vibe of this community, so thanks for being a part of that. Thanks for checking out my story as well! What did you think? Any critiques / suggestions? (yeah its great to meet another SC fan. apparently they're pretty rare, but its always great to meet one nonetheless. i am a nerd for that show and, in particular, its soundtrack, so if you ever wanna talk about the show or other animes just PM me!) AlyTheBookwormI haven't read much historical fiction (much less set in an Asian country), so I think the setting/premise is really cool and Sakura's backstory is especially interesting. I also liked the vivid, colorful descriptions, though in terms of critiques/suggestions, I think MissGangamash's review was right in saying that the story would be easier to read if it was formatted into split-up paragraphs with shorter sentences and fewer adverbs. -To sum it up: fix paragraphs and aim for more concision (concise writing: fewer double adjectives, fewer adverbs, shorter sentences)- Nonetheless, the setting you create is really lovely and made me think "I want to be there rn"
Anyways. There's my two cents lol. Now I'm wondering if I should've just written a full review on the story.. But if you post more in the future, feel free to tag me. I've been wanting to read more stuff in this genre/setting, so I'd definitely like to read the rest when it's written c: Nov 18, 2020
smokeyyyyThanks! Yeah, I really wanted to sort of do an exercise on that kind of description. It's pretty much a unanimous thing on my whole problem with paragraphs and run-on sentences, as well as the mouthful of description, so I'll most definitely be sure to work on that on my next upload, whatever it may be. Thank you so much for the feedback! It always helps so much! Nov 19, 2020

Hello and welcome to YWS! I'm Mage. Feel free to come to me if you ever have any questions about YWS.
(If I'm ever not on, junior moderators, global moderators and admins definitely would be able to help you out with any questions or concerns you have, and your fellow members would be happy to help as well.)
Before you get settled in, you might want to swing by the rules thread to see what's allowed on the site, and the FAQ thread to figure out how the site works. It explains a lot about the basics of the site, like how to post your works and how to get points. It was really useful to me back when I first joined the site, so hopefully it'll be just as useful for you.
Some fun areas of the site you might want to learn more about are the forums, blogs and storybook section. The forums have fun games, writing activities, and places to talk about whatever writing project you're working on. The blogs aren't used as much as the other sections of the site, but you can post little life updates there. And the storybook section is a place to collaborate on stories - either by co-writing novel-style stories, or by taking part in roleplays.
I hope you enjoy your time on YWS, and feel free to ask me any questions you have about how the site works!
Finished my first piece on this website, which is the opening chapter for a historical-fiction series I'll be working on. Don't want to call it a novel though, because it feels more like a series anyway.
There also is a club for new members called The Newbies Club. You can go here to ask questions, chat with other newbies, and hang out!
And if you ever have any questions, contact someone with a green username or a red username! Those are the junior moderators(Here's a list of them), the global moderators(Here)and the administrators(Here). Of course, you can PM me with any questions!
A question for you: What kind of stuff do you write?
I hope you have fun here!
smokeyyyyThanks for the warm welcome! Personally, I enjoy writing any and all OC things, specifically my own works in different genres. I'm not yet warmed up to writing specific fandoms that I like, since I don't really like using character or settings that I haven't made myself, but I'll likely try that soon. Anyways, thanks. See you around.

momonsterNo problem, and thank you! It's always great to meet another ATLA fan. Nov 17, 2020
smokeyyyyYeah, I'm kind of a nerd for ATLA stuff. I've watched both ATLA and LoK, read all the comics, and own most of the DVD sets. I want to read the Kyoshi book and more of the comics but right now it's a bit difficult because I was originally just reading the comics online (because im poor lol) Nov 17, 2020
