Of course you could forego that and just have the JM's work overtime on it
I thought what Kyllorac was proposing was kind of like what the JMs did/are supposed to do?

I actually really like this idea. Would all the current instructors/greeters become automatically in the group or would we have to re-apply? (take the quiz)
What I'm proposing is a compromise of sorts -- the Greeters and Instructor groups be nixed, but a new group with a different color (I'm thinking bright orange would be good) would be formed. The purpose of this new group would be to answer questions users may have about the site in general. As such, the members of this group would have to have a fairly extensive knowledge of where everything is on the site and where things can be found.
As with the badges system, these users would not be reprimanding other users, and they would have no site powers or privileges, though there would be a public forum for these helpers, or at least one they can be based out of (like a forum devoted to shortcuts and links to other parts of the forum). Also, like the badges system, I think that new members should be nominated by their peers. Approval could then be directly done by a mod, or it could be put up to a general vote in their own respective forum.
