Hello. Today I would like to instruct in the fine art of writing. Obviously, the core of any story is our characters. To create a good story, we need to have wonderful, realisitic, and 3-dimensional characters.
Names
Okay, Obviously The Essential to any characters. I don't have much to say in this category, because everyone has different tastes. You could make up your own name, but please make sure it sounds like a real name that someone could actually have. For Example, you could switch names backwards. My name is Eleanore. That Backwards is Eronaele. I took out the 'a', added an 'l' and got Eronelle, which I think is a good name for a fantasy story. Or you could mix names togheter. I mixed 'Erika' and 'Erin' and got Erina.
You can pretty much do whatever you want for this, but just make sure your name sounds authentic.
You could also use words from the English Language. If you do this, just captalize the world, and make sure its uncommon and not something like 'She' or 'Hi.'
Then, The Third Option We Can Use Is just just picking a generic, already given name. If you do this, all you need here is reaserch. Whatever time period you are setting your story in, do a google search or something and find, for example 'popular names in [insert time period]' Example. If you are setting your story in the 1700s, say you want a name for a boy character. I think 'James' or 'Edward' would be more realistic then 'Jared' or 'Lucas'.
