Here I am! Last year I was so sad about not being able to complete napo but this year even though I know it is a busy month for me I will try my best cause even though I consider myself more of a prose reader and writer, I also have a love for poetry and especially napo!

Goal is 1 poem a day and trying the narrative style of poetry!

Princess Dina
Week…
Broken..
Taken by the sorrow
Bruised by breath
Loved by her mother
Who had an untimely death

The Funeral

The first touch of life being buried alive
Everyone was blind not to see her eyes smile
Mother is not dead, I almost choke on my breath
A warrior is no person to make do with death

The halls were hushed
The glasses wear the brown dust
The stairs don't make a sound
The great doors don’t creak

My mother had the most life
Any live thing couldn’t possess
In this dreadful palace where
The people left are more dead

Mother is taken to the River
Where she will shine by the sun
And be buried to the earth
She will sing with the wind

She will have a new home
A new place she will dwell in
No she is not dead
But what about me

Imagination is a superpower. Use it well!

Wow what a chilling ending!!

No she is not dead
But what about me

the narrator is just so devastated that they realize they might be dead, even more so than their mother. really love the atmosphere of the poem. it feels so gloomy and dark and really sets the tone!!
they told me to never give up on my dreams.

so i took another nap

Napo- 2

Silence of the Palace

That night when the palace slept, with grieve filled depth of silence
I was awake as I always have, eyes restless in search of answers
The weight I carried within, had no place in the ears of the palace
It reeked of secrets, sounds of distrust and sight of miseries

My eyes follow the moonlight,
as it hides from the shadows of the night

Its white glow on mother’s skin
The calmness contrasted with her wild eyes
She is here, like always with her face drawn toward the sky
The delicate fiery orange embracing her silhouette

I have long believed she could fly with wings she kept concealed
The palace was blind to not see her hiding it under her smile
The flight she intended long back
But was she to leave me all alone
I didn’t have the slightest fear
But she left, she really did
She no longer looks back from the window.

Awakening of the Phoenix queen

awakened to the damned day
princess will sleep in mirage forever
breathing only in the legends
she too will be remembered
a hope lingers
wanting not to be forgotten
like a dream among many
it is time for her to follow
to fit in the footsteps
stained by blood
traced by sacrifice
tomorrow the princess dies
it will be her last slumber
she too will be lost to ashes
like her foremothers
The Phoenix queen will be born
birthed by the fire
Imagination is a superpower. Use it well!

The crown

closing my eyes i drift back to a memory, a child’s dream,
the desire for it once turned her into a silent thief.
into the royal room, where Father had Mother in his gentle arms
sneaking with its glitters in her eyes, she held the crown for the first time

in the mirror, she saw herself from a different sight
as she placed it on her head, it felt heavy like a broken heart.

opening my eyes, i replay the memory in my mind again
mother had caught me, i remember her blank eyes
seeing through my soul, the desire of the young girl
the dreams she knew very close

The sounds, their hopes are too loud
I cannot take in any more

I am Dina, not your queen,
I am a neverending rain, not the flame
I am weak, like a bleeding limb
I am not worthy, the silence screamed
Imagination is a superpower. Use it well!

(I really like the different directions you took the regal theme in these Alice! This would definitely be a collection to return to when you're feeling in the poetry mood! Fun-reads and fun-concept!

I liked the idea of the "Phoenix Queen" especially!

it will be her last slumber
she too will be lost to ashes
like her foremothers
The Phoenix queen will be born
birthed by the fire

Ahhh! Goosebumps.
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return

Thank you @alliyah

sadly I wasn't able to complete Napo or write many poems but Dina's story is definitely an exciting project for me!

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
