Hi! Mage here. I'm technically the leader of this club, but I feel like I haven't been able to make this club fully live up to its potential. I'd love to do new and exciting things with this club (especially with its forum topics) but I admit I have no idea where to begin.
So I thought I'd turn to the other queer inklings of YWS!
What do you want this club to? Even if the suggestion seems like something out of your wildest dreams, feel free to drop here. This isn't really a place to say no - it's a place to brainstorm and scheme.

One thing we could try is exchanges? I see them all the time in fandom circles. It's basically where you write/make something for someone else and they write/make something for you! We could do themes or specific requests.

Oooh I love that idea @kryptonianmenace! We actually just did something similar in December with Secret Santa and this month with the Worst Gift Exchange, but I'd love to do a club version of that. It might be a lot of fun doing that during pride, too - I know I'm always struggling to come up with something cool that we can do then.

@ayelenwritesstuff, I love that idea! I ran a big bang pride event (named after the fandom events) where people made all kinds of pride works a few years ago, but I definitely want to do that again. <3

Some sort of “pride all year round” thing where each month is related somehow with a mini competition, or even just a prompt? Like during April, a queer poem. During roleplay month, a queer roleplay/character. Stuff like that?

Oh, yes! Little prompts or mini competitions would be amazing and a great way to keep the club active year-round.

@Kelisot, that's definitely okay! Queer poetry is welcome year round. We were just thinking of doing special little events each month, and one of them would be queer poetry in April.

I have a club idea!
How about hosting a queer writing contest during Pride month (or any other month that suits us?). People can submit their stories, and we can have various categories for voting on the best ones. What do you think about these categories:
1. Best LGBTQ+ Representation: This category would celebrate stories that authentically and positively depict queer characters, highlighting their experiences, struggles, and triumphs.
2. Most Creative Narrative: This category would focus on the unique and innovative storytelling approaches used in the submitted pieces, emphasizing creativity and originality.
3. Most Empowering Story: This category would recognize stories that empower and inspire the LGBTQ+ community, shedding light on important issues, instilling confidence, and promoting self-acceptance and resilience.
4. Best LGBTQ+ Romance: This category would celebrate stories centered around LGBTQ+ love and relationships, showcasing romantic narratives that resonate with readers and celebrate diverse forms of love.
5. Most Impactful Coming-Out Story: This category would acknowledge stories that explore the journey of self-discovery and acceptance, highlighting the challenges, growth, and ultimate triumphs that come with coming out as LGBTQ+.
6. Best Intersectional Representation: This category would recognize stories that authentically depict the intersectionality of queer identities, exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals who face multiple forms of discrimination due to factors such as race, ethnicity, religion, or disability.
7. Most Thought-Provoking Story: This category would award stories that delve into deep and meaningful themes, raising important questions and provoking discussions about LGBTQ+ issues, equality, and social justice.

9. Best Fantasy/Sci-Fi LGBTQ+ Story: This category would highlight stories set in fantastical or science-fiction worlds, showcasing LGBTQ+ characters and relationships within these imaginative settings.
10. Audience Choice Award: This category would allow readers to vote for their favorite story overall, regardless of the specific category, recognizing the piece that resonates with the widest audience.
Each category winner could receive a prize (of some sort, I have no idea what though) to further encourage and appreciate their talent and contribution to YWS literature.
