Dog-earing books will bring on the apocalypse because it wears out the pages of the books faster so that the publishers will need to print more books. Books need paper, and paper comes from trees. Soon there won't be any trees left and we'll all die, and it'll be the dog-earing people's fault.
Also, you'll notice how on the web, you 'bookmark' a web page, or add it to your 'favorites'... how often do you see a 'dog-ear this page' option? It's backwards!

Not exactly.... Their environment would make it so that many of the offspring would die anyway... but it still is important.
