    Have your insurance company's number in your phone's contacts, and keep your card on you at all times (which is obvious.) When any changes come about to your insurance plan, matters such as the cost of your prescriptions could temporarily skyrocket in confusion, and it'll be up to you to sort it out.

    This also applies to doctoral and specialist visits, and even if you pay your insurance a different way in a month (by cash, by card, direct, or if you're late) the system may not recognize you as a holder at first. Always be prepared!

    I have been without a dishwasher for two years, and it's only now dawned on me that for dishes I let dry when I should not have (oatmeal. omg oatmeal. it's glue) I can put the dishes in the sink hours before I go to wash them, so I'm not spending hours scrubbing when I actually wash dishes.

    Good gravy yes, Oatmeal. Also the second all the tomato soup is out of the pot, I soak that. I think that's more of a habit but yeah. Potato pots also benefit from that. O>O

    @birk I am an inch away from buying a portable dishwasher. Problem is, it'd be $800 new, and searching through used ones sounds very energy draining. (moving to a new place with a dishwasher, on the other hand, would be an extra $200 a month)

    @Holysocks I'm allergic to tomatoes, so I don't have tomato soup problems xD when I still ate beans, they were extremely difficult— especially mashed. And melted cheese is evil

    I've never had a dishwasher at home, at any apartment, in any dorm or sublet, so I'll refer to the OP: what utility were you using to scrub? Because in the dish washing world, the facts in the commercials are abundant.

    My personal favorite scrubbing utensil is the Scotch Brite scrubbing pad which doubles as a sponge on the opposite side. Compliant with stainless steel for real scrubbing (where steel wool can ruin pots and pans.) And Dawn is my forevergirl dish soap.

    But I've also always been a fan of having a two-compartment sink: one for soaking and one for rinsing. I do not believe I would get far in my regimen without that second compartment.

    @Lumi I only have one compartment in my sink, so I often let things soak before filling it. Dawn is love, and I just use washcloths that get the job done.

    I want to get in on this dishwashing habits discussion. XP

    At our old place we had to heat up the water before hand in order to wash dishes.

    But now we have running water. I've always washed dishes with two compartments (or two square basins)- but one is not for soaking. The first one is for washing, and the second one is for rinsing. I soak stuff by simple scup ping a little water into them- normally just pots and cookie sheets or something.

    We use those little green square scrubby things. And dish soap from the health food store.... because who knows how much soap we're ingesting.

    -organizing the keys
    -driving to the grocery store
    -paying for groceries
    -having to talk to teachers and explain why i didn't do something
    -having to talk to people in general
    -watching hours of YouTube recipes

    So yeah.

    I think the biggest thing I learnt this year, that I'm pretty sure I inherently knew already, is that nobody knows how to adult. My parents? They have no clue. My grandma? She's still figuring it out too. Everyone's been winging it since they started, and are still winging it to this day. Knowing that, gave me a lot of freedom to fail, and the freedom to succeed.

    Don't think you know how to do something? Find out as much as you can about it, and then go for it.
