Lately, my friend and I have started reading the Bible in French! We're both native English speakers but studying French in college. It's been a really interesting experience to see how something well-known can change in a different language, and to see the impact of very specific words and their connotations.

Has anyone else tried reading something familiar in a different language? What did you think? :)

Yes! That sounds fun ~ I read the Bible in Biblical Greek (which is what I learned Greek for) and most of the time love doing that, but sometimes get very confused if a well-loved verse is... like styled somewhat different. Haha I guess some English translation phrasings are too nostalgic for me to abandon even if the connotation seems off after reading the Greek. Definitely brings new meaning to it though, wish my Hebrew was better so I could tackle Old Testament, but it's all leaking out of my brain.

Also less academic, and solely for my amusement I used to love watching like movies I know really well with Spanish subtitles... specifically movies like Shrek. I don't know why, but it makes me feel like I'm learning and is sometimes humorous? :D haven't done that in a long-while though!
