   Fairy tales. Everyone’s childhood staple, the stories meant as either cautionary parables or ever after dreams come true. Where everyone gets their Happily Ever After— except the evil villain.
   
   This tournament is all about flipping that on its head.
   
   Here, you are writing reverse fairy tales. Who is truly good? Who is truly evil? You decide in accordance to three prompts, all classic fairy tales… with a twist. Archetypes exist to be modified, after all.
   
   Writing periods will lean towards the long side because the prompts are potentially more involved. 5,000 words maximum, poetry and short stories accepted!

    We have a full roster! The combatants:

    Your first prompt is as follows
    
    Many a young boy dreams of slaying a dragon and getting his princess (or prince). Many a young girl is locked in a tower waiting for a prince(ess) to save her.
    
    But here, just because somebody carries a sword and claims to have everyone's best interest at heart does not mean they actually do.
    
    Your challenge is: Good dragons. I shall leave you with as few guidelines as possible but please try to place them in a stereotypical fairy tale role, where normally they are slain as the beast. Whether or not they are slain is up to you.
    
    You will have five days to write it, making the deadline May 22nd. If you need an extension, let me know and we'll accommodate. Poetry or prose (or prose poetry, or poetic prose) is accepted.
    
    Good luck, combatants, and hope your once upon a times lead to happily ever afters.
