    Spoiler
Lylatt knew dual-wielding his guns would force him to rely using his shield hand to aim and shoot — as he knew that it would slow him down (due to the Dread Defender’s weight) perhaps just enough for Valmond to do something against it. Unwilling to take that chance, Lylatt instead re-deployed Bampaia and, as the support unit aimed and fired at the immobile Resolute Waver, Lylatt fired three bullets towards Valmond. The latter already placed a Fabletrick Spellcaster clone in front of him, and the creature’s already raised hand released a gale strong enough to deflect them.

That’s new. Probably what’s needed when Aporia’s offline? Lylatt thought to himself as he raised his shield just in time to intercept the suddenly dashing Resolute Waver. As the ship rammed into his force field, Lylatt quickly switched from Golden Gryphon to Vile Venospada. His force field’s light shone brightly like before then pushed air in all directions, and alongside it the Resolute Waver — just far enough for Lylatt to sidestep the ship’s second ramming attempt before striking it with his sword as it passed. Both the Vile Venospada and the ghostly sword that always followed hit the Vengeful Quills protruding from ship’s, which caused them to explode on impact. The Resolute Waver fell soon after.

Two clones left, then Valmond himse- oh. Lylatt’s train of thought was interrupted by the new sight: close behind the Fabletrick Spellcaster clone — and the second one finally hovering in close again to make the duo a trio — he could see Valmond shoving a new palmastrel straight into his back, as though he were a toy newly equipped with a wind-up key.

So Resolute Waver still distracted me for long enough. Lylatt realized. If I try something, I’m sure they’ll attack me in a new, purposefully unexpected way. I should setup instead.
One Fabletrick began to glow, turned into a ball of light and flew into the opened treasure chest held in Valmond’s left hand. At the same time, the hammer-like palmastrel at his right shone too, while the second Fabletrick raised both arms: four projectiles, too fast for Lylatt to properly process, flew towards him.
Wielding reflexes and practice both, Lylatt cut through the first with a slash of his Vile Venospada, performed his impossible leap to dodge the second, then raised his shield to block the last two, even as the green trail of released energy following his motion vanished behind him.
The force field, usually blue, sunk to yellow.

Okay, so those things hit hard. Lylatt observed in his mind, firing retaliating shots. Probably can’t use them often if he didn’t use them from the start. Gotta dodge more before they break the force field.

“We are Stormspook, the Zephyr-Fragment,” Valmond announced while a second, guttural voice joining his declaration. Mechanical wings laced with runes (vaguely resembling a dragonfly’s, similar to the Resolute Waver’s) grew from Valmond’s back, somehow phasing through his clothes without tearing them. “Commanding the weakling’s untamed neighbor: the wind!”

Lylatt grinned under his helmet. He even had a chant of his own? This young man had everything.
Crouching beneath another projectiles — they’d been less numerous, which was fortunate but suspicious — Lylatt quickly switched from Vile Venospada back to Golden Gryphon, running towards the Fabletrick Spellcaster clone while shooting. As suspected, the creature immediately lowered an arm and switched from throwing projectiles to that defensive gale from earlier.

Can’t do attack and defense simultaneously — which is probably why he needs multiple. Lylatt deduced. A good venospada combo once I’m close should clean him up.

The Fabletrick Spellcaster turned into a ball of light like the previous one, just as Valmond jumped up and took flight, hovering above Lylatt while his glowing palmastrel’s round tip gave way to a thunderclap-shaped horn, long enough to become a solid, jagged yellow rapier.

“Roles are this time reversed — for our shouts and shrieks ride the summoned squall, as your surrendered soul stays silent!”

Now that is a quality alliteration game. Alongside the thought, Lylatt pointed his Golden Gryphon at his floating foe, channeling his pink pulse into it and released five bullets followed by that gilded bird-looking Charged Shot. To his utter surprise, a tornado rose from the ground at that exact moment, and the projectiles spun around its guiding wind instead of hitting their target. With the delighted smile of a schemer’s satisfaction, Valmond pointed at Lylatt with his palmastrel-turned-rapier, and every bullet followed the motion as they speedily returned to their sender.

Tank it. With that one thought, Lylatt let his armor take the shots, channeling pulse into his hand in advance before being launched back by his own Charged Shot exploding into him. Once his back hit the ground, Lylatt performed as good a backward roll as he could, using his shielded arm to propel himself upright once more, while he sheathed his sword with the other.

“Your soul is but a preyed upon pebble, dancing in the wild wind of our voracious vengeance!”

Properly positioned again, Lylatt looked up just in time to witness Valmond pull his weapon-wielding arm back before, like Aporia before him, a sound like a thunderclap boomed as Valmond performed an incredible mid-air rush. Lylatt met the diving assault with his rejuvenated force field, and he smiled with excitement as sword of lightning and shield of light struggled against each other.
Realizing his opportunity, Lylatt’s body shone pink as he sent a discharge of pulse to his nearby helper.

“That dance of mine, fragment, is a deliberate wayward waltz.” Lylatt exclaimed in return for both the chant and the attack. As his free hand grasped his final weapon, Lylatt witnessed his floating helper dash to him before briefly turning Lylatt invisible once more. Through the Deadly Shadow Cloak’s secondary function, Lylatt found his armor empowered and, when he reappeared, the entire Emerald Dread shone green, right before he swung his arm out, as if slapping away Valmond’s climactic strike with a mere backhand.
