Young Writers Society
Application purpose. Young Writers Society (YWS) is a free online community for young writers. The application helps members publish creative writing, share artwork, participate in forums, give and receive feedback, join writing activities, and connect with other writers in a moderated, family-friendly environment.
Features and functionality
YWS provides the following features to registered members:
- Publishing poetry, fiction, nonfiction, scripts, and other literary work
- Reviewing and commenting on other members' writing
- Discussion forums, contests, and community activities
- Private messaging between members
- Personal profiles, portfolios, and account settings
- Optional account creation and sign-in, including Sign in with Google
You can browse much of the site without signing in. Creating an account is required to publish work, post in forums, and use member-only features.
Sign in with Google
YWS offers optional Sign in with Google as a convenience for account registration and sign-in. You may also create an account or sign in with a YWS username and password at any time.
How YWS uses Google user data
If you choose Sign in with Google, YWS requests only the Google account information needed to authenticate you and create or link your YWS account:
- Your Google account ID (a unique identifier from Google)
- Your name, when Google provides it
- Your email address, which must be verified by Google
YWS uses this information only to:
- Sign you in to an existing YWS account linked to your Google account
- Link Google Sign-In to an existing YWS account when the verified email address matches
- Create a new YWS account when you are a new user (you choose your username before registration completes)
- Recognize your Google account on future sign-ins
YWS does not request access to your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, calendar, photos, or other Google services. We do not sell Google account information, use it for advertising, or post to Google on your behalf. Information from an in-progress sign-in is held temporarily (for about 15 minutes) while registration completes. Linked Google account data is kept while your YWS account remains linked to Google Sign-In.
