The Song of the Loon

A Song for the Sun,
A Song for the Moon,
A Song to get started,
A Song by The Loon.

How to get going?
And how to begin?
How to go about?
In what tone to sing?

The King loved the song,
The Queen preferred the jest,
Though both of them great patrons,
They could not stand the rest.

And so here I stand, I’m here today,
To entertain you folks,
But on what to talk, I do not know,
I’m simply out of jokes!

Let’s speak about the waters,
Let’s talk about the breeze,
Let’s converse on the planets,
Let’s discuss why things freeze.

Good Sir of yonder, look not so bored,
And gather your faith in stocks,
For I declare, I’m better than mares,
Or gaggles of girls in frocks.

A smile crosses that troubled face,
The mouth begins to grin,
“A better song”, you ask me for?
Why not! I’ll find one to sing.

I’ll spin a yarn, a tale of wonder,
I’ll involve the whole world wide.
I can do it, I will do it,
I’ll give your brains a ride!

“The Ballad of Good Sir Dagworth”,
I announce with a long loud cry,
The smiles fade, the frowns begin,
The grins turn sour and die.

Already done, this poem is,
I know! What can I do?
I am spent, I am done,
I cannot now woo you!

“Come now, little Jester,
Come up with something quick,
A good joke, a song or dance,
Some verse or magic trick!”

Ballad, limerick, elegy or ode,
Each I know you know,
And as for jest or sleight of hand,
I covered all in my show!

Quit the “Boo’s”, the stomps, the shouts,
And shut your mouth, you Dame!
I know my role, I know my part,
I’ll never forget this shame!

My Boot you deserve, my Boot you’ll get,
Try not to run for cover,
Feel my wrath now, feel my rage now,
No! Sorry I’m not, my lover.

A vase thrown here, a chair out there,
The Queen’s Ring down the drain,
Do not try to run for the King,
His mercy shall not reign!

The King will stand, with scepter in hand,
The King will have his say,
“I think we’ve all learnt a lesson here,
Let a Madman have his way!”

This is a very intersting song! it takes me back to the middle ages, and it's very fun :)
The one thing that I'd like to point out, though, is this:
you said
"A smile crosses that troubled face,
The mouth begins to grin,
“A better song”, you ask me for?
Why not! I’ll find one to sing."

But "Grin" and "sing" don't really rhyme....

but anyways, this was a very cool song. Keep writing!
