Please note that i was writing this at 1:00 am after having four hours of sleep the night before. This is when the overtired hyperactivity started to sink in. I also wrote it as a joke to one of my friends but I thought it was good enough to post.

Ahh to be a raccoon

What a wondrous joy

To dig through the garbage

To not care about boys

Ahh to be a raccoon

With makeup all smudged

Black and grey streaks

To never be judged

Ahh to be a raccoon

Always hated

Considered a pest

Traps set and baited

To be a raccoon

And laze around all day

To have curiosity

That gets you hit on the freeway

To be a raccoon

Oh so carefree

To be a raccoon

It would suit me

Hello, wolfsbane! This made me chuckle.

I really like the way that you incorporate a human aspect into the raccoon. As if the narrator doesn't want to truly be a raccoon, but just to act like one. This is indicated by the makeup line, which I really appreciated.

Personally, I think that raccoons are creepy. It's those little hands of theirs. I can just feel them climbing up my spine right now, with that little mask peering over my shoulder. But I digress.

I think the rhyme scheme works really well for this poem. Most of the time, I really don't like rhyme schemes, but this one aided the humor in the poem. One complaint I do have about the rhyme scheme is that it only included three lines. I think that the repeated line followed by four lines might be more effective, especially after the "baited" line. I expected you to go on about it for another line, but you didn't.

I think you should expand on why the freedom of being a raccoon appeals to you. Like, you can go wherever you want, and steal whatever you want, too! Raccoons are smart critters. One time, one stole all the fish that my dad caught that day out of the cooler right outside our camper. It left the cooler pristine, and took the fish out of the seran wrap it was in. We even bungee cabled the cooler shut! Dang, raccoons are smart.

But anyway, this is a cute, humorous poem that I'm glad you posted. It really did make my day! Happy writing, and happy review day!

As a raccoon, I can confirm that this is 100% true. ;)

I love your work. I've never thought of a raccoon having smudged makeup, that was very creative. How you describe the raccoon is amazing. How beautiful the creature is, how [stupid]curious it is. I loved it. 'That gets you hit on a freeway' loved that line, so you like to get hit on a freeway huh? never knew anyone who likes to get hit on a freeway. The matches your craziness[in a good way] . Keep it up and I would love to read more of your work. The part I don't get is why in the world were you writing this at 1:00 am?

I wrote this at 1:00am because i got really hyper because of over tiredness and had the random notion of wanting to be a raccoon. so i wrote this as a joke to my friends and it actually turned out well for the late night craziness.

Hey, the magic happens at 1 am! This was great, well structured, and really funny too actually. :D I liked how you compared the human aspects to the aspects of the racoon, it was fun to see and probably to write too! I really liked the part that said, "with makeup all smudged." That was cute :D
Alright, happy writing! Thanks for the reading material! :D
