Prologue

“Sorry madam, the project isn’t finished yet, I’ll finish it by next Monday,” 18 year-old Catherine promised.

“Then I trust you will do that, because it is long overdue, and other students are working on another project already,” the teacher gave Catherine a stern look.

“Truly Madame, I am so sorry in being so unorganized,” Catherine lied, she hadn’t felt that way and she certainly wasn’t sorry for it.

Catherine was a university student at the witches’ school, the second most popular school since it was built. She basically only excelled in 3 classes; potions, spells, and dark curses.

Catherine’s latest project for spells involved making a rock more interesting by making it look pretty and using a sense of creativity, make it have some functions that a normal rock wouldn’t have. At the beginning, because of Catherine’s lack of imagination, she couldn’t think of any idea to change the rock. But when she finally came up with an idea that would incorporate her cursing powers into the project, she had to buy some items that were very rare, which took quite a long time, so her project was overdue.

Heading out of the classroom, she headed for the stone, spiral stairs.

“Screw that darn teacher, she shouldn’t be able to blame me for not being able to find the right materials in time!” even thinking about it made Catherine more angry.

She got tired of walking up the stairs and she teleported herself to the thirteenth floor of the castle shaped school.

“Darn the headmaster too, he makes so many rules that we can’t even teleport ourselves anywhere on school property except for the stairs!” Catherine could complain about almost anything, but she always kept her thoughts in her head.

Walking out to the thirteenth floor, she opened the fourth door to the right, her messy dorm room.

There were books and clothes tossed everywhere. On one side of the room, she stacked her books messily on a shelf, and on the other side, there was a big pot (used for making potions and also right now).

Since kindergarten, Catherine had always been treated as a ‘loser’ and a ‘wierdo’, it was some kind of sudden reputation since she started school. And of course, Catherine hated it! It was awful. Even some teachers called her stubborn! Because of all the unnecessary bullying, she decided that she would take revenge on everybody someday, and unfortunately for us, her day had come. She was going to invent a rock (from her project) to revenge on the world.

In her messy lab (which was her dorm room, but she liked to call it a lab), there were potions) and beside that pot, stood Catherine.

She was making a potion that could eventually destroy the world, that she would pour on the rock, to make it very beautiful, but it would hold a terrible curse.

“Ha ha ha! The world will be sorry for what they did to me! Oh yes! And make the rock into a pink crystal so people will think its pretty,” her voice cackled, “Now for the finishing touch! A curse that all will fear!”

When Catherine made curses or potions, she would seem to change into another person, acting so cruel and heartless, but she never noticed it, and others didn’t either (since she always acted nice when others were there).

She whispered the ancient words, words that haven’t been spoken for millions of years, then gently put a drip of a gooey red substance into the ebony coloured liquid that boiled inside the cauldron.

It bubbled and screamed until it finally went silent. Catherine then dropped the dented deformed rock into the pot, oddly, there was no splash, the substance seemed to suck the rock in. The rock absorbed the dark liquid and began to reform itself into a beautiful, smooth see through pink crystal. Charming it was on the outside, almost hypnotizing, but hidden so deep inside it, so deep that it couldn’t be detected, was a curse, that could wipe out the lives of millions.

She had once been a charming, cute, little girl with a kind heart, but now, she had enough of the world. She felt no pity for anybody, not even her mom and dad, who promised they would always be there for her, but they never were.

Catherine’s parents had dumped her in this school to grow up since kindergarten. It turns out, they never came back to see her again, no body knew where they went. Catherine had always thought that they had went off together to have their own fun. For this, other kids began to bully her.

Catherine knew that this crystal would kill her as well as many other people but she was determined to show everybody her true power inside, which was once truly powerful but because of the bullying, she had changed, no much on the outside, but a lot inside, and that changed her heart, power, hope, and forgiveness. As a final step in making the crystal, she took out her cheap, rusty pocket knife and carved on the smooth side of the crystal, C. M., for Catherine Macdoofus.

Hey there!

Welcome to the Young Writers Society! If you have any questions about the site, feel free to message me. I suggest you take a look at The Rules. Also, why don't you post a hello in the welcome thread?

Since this is the writer's corner, and stories do not go here, I'm going to move this thread to Other Fiction. However, you should be aware, that for every one story you post you should review at least two other stories or poem or what have you. You should probably go do that. :)

Again, if you have any questions feel free to message me!
