"I hate roller coasters," moaned Theresa Cassidy, turning green in the face at the very sight of the cars hurtling down the metal tracks.
"I lost my sense of hearing last summer just from riding the spinning cups with her," Jubilation Lee noted. "Laura, if you value your sanity, I'm afraid you'll have to do this one alone."
Laura Kinney looked up admiringly at the thrillingly twisted structure. It did seem intense, but could it be any worse than the time Bobby and Forge took the Blackbird on a caffeinated joyride?
"I'm fine with that," she said. "Why don't you two ride the merry-go-round with Logan?"
Logan was standing near said ride, staring morosely at the distant ferris wheel. Scott and Jean were up there right now, which was probably the latest reason for Logan's sullen mood.
"Okay," Jubilee and Syrin chorused readily, eager to get away from that infernal contraption.
Laura got in line, without realizing that she was dooming herself to a forty-five minute wait.
"I've been waiting in this line forever," she muttered, watching the coaster loop over her head for the eighth time.
"Over here!" an accented voice called from several feet ahead. Laura felt a poof behind her, and a three-fingered hand on her shoulder. Within seconds, she was standing farther in line with Kurt Wagner.
A couple of people stared skeptically, but most were focused on their phones, cotton candy, or nearby attractions. Nonetheless, the blue-furred mutant boy bowed gallantly and introduced himself to all who cared to listen as "the incredible Nightcrawler, late of the Munich Circus." Laura assured herself this little bit of awkwardness was worth it.
"One more group and it's our turn," Kurt said excitedly. "If you'd like, we can teleport ahead to the--"
Laura shook her head. "We'll wait."
Cries of "Hey, you can't do that!" and "Who you calling 'bub?'" announced the impromptu arrival of Logan, who was elbowing and ducking his way into the line.
"Thanks for saving me a spot, Elf," Logan said, smirking smugly at the irate crowd.
"Er, anytime, Wolverine," Kurt replied.
"Do you have to come with us?" Laura begged. "This is embarrassing."
"I'm not going to waste this arm band I paid for," Logan retorted. "Besides, I want to be there when a boy takes my DNA -- er, my daughter -- on a roller coaster."
Laura bristled with indignation and Kurt blushed indigo.
"Relax, I'm only kidding."
Finally, their turn came, and the three of them squeezed into the first car.
"Remember, if you do not enjoy the ride," Kurt whispered as the ride operator read monotonously through some instructions, "I can teleport us out at any time."
Logan shrugged. "I doubt we'll need to."
Laura gripped the handle bars tightly in anticipation as the train began its agonizingly slow ascent up the first hill.
And then she screamed as it came hurtling down.
And then it rushed back up.
And then it flew down, only to twist through a corkscrew.
Laura's throat was, by this time, quite hoarse. Logan, in turn, looked green, and Nightcrawler looked ... turquoise?
"Please, make it stop," Laura moaned as a series of loop-the-loops approached at breakneck speed.
"I can teleport us out," Kurt offered again.
"Do it," Logan groaned.
"At this intense speed, I cannot determine exactly where we will land," Kurt warned. "This could be messy."
"Just do it!" Logan and Laura shouted at once.
Kurt grabbed their hands and shut his eyes.
"That was fun," said Scott Summers, taking Jean's hand as they exited the ferris wheel.
"Definitely," said Jean, "but it was a little dizzying at first."
Scott chuckled. "What do you say we get some of that cotton candy?"
The couple bought some of the blue variety and sat down on a wooden bench in the shade of a tree to enjoy their purchase....
...When something they heard an unearthly noise, resembling a dying frog, above their heads.
"What the--?"
"Sorry," Laura squeaked from above them.
With a puff of smoke, the incredible Nightcrawler, the incredibly grouchy and disoriented Wolverine, and the incredibly nauseous X-23 materialized before the annoyed couple.
"I tried to tell you I had no control over where we'd land," Kurt muttered.
"Hey, Jeanie," Logan said sheepishly.
"I think it's time to call it a day," Jean suggested tactfully. "Where are the others?"
As if to answer her question, an earsplitting shriek enveloped the amusement park grounds and all who traversed them in near-deafness. It came from the roller coaster.
"Peer pressure?" Laura asked -- but she couldn't hear herself say it, and neither could anyone else.

Your comment was posted, but it wasn’t long enough to count as a review. Reviews need about four complete sentences (at least 250 characters). Try writing another review that explains your thoughts in more detail — the author will appreciate it, and you’ll earn points for it.
So, I read through it, and it is a fairly simple story, more dealing with character interactions than actual plot, which is fine, but it does bring up an issue. The characters don't seem to be in very much in character, which makes me think you should have maybe used original characters instead of doing fanfiction. Also, for some of the characters you switched from using their real names to their code names. Jubilee is easy enough to figure out, and Nightcrawler is spelled out, but people not familiar with the characters may get confused by the others.
That’s excellent! I don’t actually understand X-Men stuff, so I can’t tell if your style fits the fandom, but it’s funny and overall great. Unless it is customary in the X-Men canon to refer to characters by first and surname, I wouldn’t do it- it sounds overly professional, and one-shots should be anything but. In the sentence “...my DNA -- er, my daughter --...” the er sounds a little awkward- I dunno, I just don’t know people who speak like that. But again, if that is customary for that character, it’s totally fine.
Otherwise excellent, really funny and I love your writing style!
