Though the more I travel,
The more I wonder:
Wasn’t I already here before?
There’s a slight difference in
Each room, seemingly more endearing
Moments unravel in sequence—
Every memory: past, future
Knowledge is too compact
There’s no escape
Physics won’t work in this place;
There is no pick or path

Hello hello ^^ I rarely ever read sci-fi works so I thought why not give it a try?
Personally, the poem is a little conceptionally unclear which is probably because I'm new to the genre, but honestly I like reading works like these which are vague and challenging.
Other than that I would suggest editing the poem because there are some minor errors.
I like the way you describe everything, like everything is unclear because the speaker too in confused, like we are crawling inside the speaker's skin and witnessing this peculiar experience you know?
Your poem also reminds me of the song 'Homage'.
I was also wondering what the line "knowledge is too compact" means
Other than that I like the part that goes
"There’s a slight difference between
Each room seemingly more endearing"
There is a sense of familiarity to that line despite it being a work of fiction.
Anyways, hope you're having a good day, you're an amazing poet
Keep writing ^^
first, thank you sm for commenting! for context, the speaker is stuck in a tesseract that shows them many different memories as they travel through looking for a way out. The line %u201Cknowledge is too compact%u201D means that the speaker is receiving too much information all at once from these moments.
Ah thankyou for helping me outt
This feels like one of those poems that doesn’t fully explain itself but still hits somehow. Like you read it and your brain just goes “wait… hold on” 😭
The “wasn’t I already here before?” line genuinely gave me chills. It has that weird deja vu feeling everyone gets but never knows how to describe properly. And “knowledge is too compact”?? Bro that line is so cool for no reason. Feels heavy but quiet at the same time.
I also like how the poem sounds lost without trying too hard to sound deep. A lot of people force this kinda writing but this actually feels natural. The short lines make it feel like thoughts appearing randomly in someone’s head at 3am 💀
“Physics won’t work in this place” is probably my favorite part though. It changes the whole vibe. Suddenly it doesn’t feel like a normal place anymore. More like a memory maze or dream loop or something.
Only thing I’d say is maybe add a little more emotion or one very specific image somewhere so readers can connect even harder. But overall this feels haunting in a soft way. Like confusion wrapped in poetry.
thank you sm for commenting! i enjoy making poems that make the readers really think about the meaning, so im glad you got that same experience lolol. thank you again for the advice, I%u2019ll take it into consideration for my next poem!!

hey @user2753994356! welcome to yws, i'm herb, and i'll be reviewing your poem today!
with the title, i can definitely see the "tesseract-cality" of this poem-- time being fluid as opposed to linear is definitely a really interesting concept to explore through poetry, although this narrator definitely reads fairly prose-y?
while i enjoy the voice that you've created despite the brevity, the curiosity is a great contrast to the impassivity-- i'm still left wanting more from this narrator. where are they? somewhere outside of time/space? i think this poem is definitely on the more brief side, which isn't a bad thing at all! but this storyline definitely seems as if it would benefit from lengthening into a longer poem or into a short story of some form.
additionally, there are some moments where you could definitely benefit from a comma or period. but that's definitely something really nitpicky on my end!
i think overall, you have a great foundation for an even greater storyline-- or poem-- you're doing great! and you've definitely got me hooked on what will happen to narrator/where they are!
and all my comments are simply suggestions! so feel free to take what sticks and ignore the rest.
best,
herb
thank you sm for this comment! a lot of the poems I write are on the brief side but have a deeper meaning to it. it%u2019s something that%u2019s more easier for me and imo has a bigger impact! i will take in consideration about the punctuation also!!
i think while brevity can carry weight, it might be worth at least considering lengthening this poem-- it opens many pathways for exploration but doesn't fully bring them into fruition, at least not in the way i percieve your intention.
but again, you can choose not to all the same !!
