Books like "The Hunger Games"?

by ultraviolet

Hey, I was wondering if any of you could suggest some books for me. Here's my top 5 list (a series gets one slot).

1. Dragons in our Midst.

2. Oracles of Fire.

3. Harry Potter.

4. The Hunger Games.

5. Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

I've got to say, it was HARD to place these in order. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of them! I mostly placed them in the order I read them, except The Hunger Games moved up one because it's my most recent obsession.

Any other books like these would be awesome! Thanks! :D

I'd have to say the Rangers Apprentice series by John Flannagan. In the first few books its about a boy name Will who is apprentice to Halt, one of the kingdoms greatest rangers. Rangers are experts of silence, stealth, and using weapons of bows and arrows and stuff like that. I know I didn't do the best job of explaining it, but its really a great series.

Battle Royale

It's definitely a lot darker, harder, more cynical, and a lot more emotionally striking than The Hunger Games is, but it is a great read. The I thing liked the most about this book is the fact that it focused on the psychological and emotional breakdown of the characters. But the book also doesn't take itself too seriously either, and it is aware of how absolutely absurd the scenario is. I really enjoy that kind of dark, perverse humor. Even though there are more than 40 characters in the book, you will, at one point, care about what happens to each and every one of them. Be prepared for some intense, gruesome scenes though.

You should read the Bartimaeus trilogy, by Jonathan Stroud. The books are very, very good, I reccomend them highly.
Also Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath, by Cornelia Funke. I love those books.
Also Deltora Quest (books 1, 2 and 3), by Emily Rodda. Very good series.
That's basically all. Hope I was helpful :D

Hey. Gone by Michael Grant was really good. But if you want, have a look at the maximum ride series. The first is called The Angel Experiment. Also, there is the Chaos Walking series. The first one is the Knife Of Never Letting Go.

Gone - Michael Grant

The Killing Joke - Anthony Howerwitz

The Power of Five Series - Anthony Howerwitiz

Montmorency - Eleanor Updale

The Three Worlds Series - Ian Irvine

That should keep you going for a while, hope you like it. I love all these books especially first, second and third one!
