What if someone had been separated from society for fifty years, and once they got back the only way they could learn about the last fifty years was through the music we listened to.
TOP TEN THINGS THEY WOULD LEARN:
10. We really like surfing. (Beach Boys)
9. We've been spending most our lives living in a gangster paradise. (Coolio)
8. If you see Lady Gaga poke her in the face. (Lady Gaga)
7. Girls just wanna have fun. (Cyndi Lauper)
6. We like to look at the lonely people so we feel better about ourselves. (The Beatles)
5. Teachers have probably made some really really big walls. (Pink Floyd)
4. If your lips are moving your lying. (Meghan Trainor)
3. We're all into songs about love and breakup. (Most modern artists)
2. Don't worry be happy. (Bob Marley)
1. Anyway the wind blows doesn't really matter. (Queen)

Hey there! I'm here to get this out of the Green Room for you.
So, I must confess I'm a little surprised this hasn't gotten noticed more. Usually YWS loves humor, and I think this is a pretty good idea for a humorous list.
I think the main things that isn't working with this joke is your execution. While the idea of someone who hasn't been paying attention to society trying to see what we've learned from 50 years of music, the way you set up the joke honestly just makes it less funny. It's too long and too vague of a set-up - someone separated from society isn't specific and thus isn't funny.
Personally, I'd make it be aliens - what would aliens learn about us from 50 years of music. At the very least, I think it'd work better if you phrase it something like "The Top 10 Things Aliens would Learn about Humanity from Listening to Our Music:"
I find the order of your list a bit odd. It seems pretty random, not chronological or anything, and I think it could be funnier if there was some logical structure to it. I also think you don't really need the names of the bands/artists in parenthesis - either the person reading this is going to get the references, or they aren't.
The only actually list item I a critique for is number three. Personally, I would have made this number one, since it's definitely the most prevalent today and in every era of music. But right now, it's just a statement of fact. It's not absurd, it's not funny. Try to re-word it in a way that highlights something outlandish or silly about the fact that we've always been into love and breakup songs - maybe they think it's what we spend 70% of our lives thinking about, since about 70% of our songs are about it. I don't know, I can't think of anything of the top of my head. But if you present that one right, it could be the funniest on the list. Right now, it's a bit boring.
That's all I've got for you! Good luck with this, and keep writing!
Hello, Godly here for a review and happy review day!

I don't know how on earth I am going to review this but we gotta get this out of the green room so I'm going to talk about whether I agree with you or not on each one as well as your opening statement.
I love this idea, it's comedic and relatable and it helps us recognise what peaked and when. As well as how weird or normal we have been in the past. I love the idea of what the person would learn if they only learnt from listening to music. This helps us think about how we organise music and shows us that sometime we are being a little stupid with what we choose as a number one. I really like number eight, it made me laugh and now I can't listen to poker face with out thinking poking someones face. I love how you take the songs literally showing us how stupid they really are which shows you have a comedic talent. I love number three because I think everyone can resonate on some sort of level when it comes to thinking about the countless numbers of love songs that run through the playlists each year. It makes you question whether we have any originality left when writing our songs and thus takes a stab at modern society. Overall this was a hilarious piece and I'd love to read more from you!
Keep writing,
All the best,
Godly
-Yes I managed a review!
Hi, umm I think you were ON POINT with these points. I really likes how you've tried to do something diffrent! I really enjoyed reading it(I totally agree with you in terms of the order you put them in.) Over all, I really enjoyed it and keep writing!
This is pretty damn accurate, haha
The control freak would've prefered if the sentences were in chronological order, but it's just me.
You've chosen great artists - the one who have had the most impact on our music industry.
