The simple, post-Pain news

Emily says to me,
in a voice so perfect
and hushed, that the
world never paid her
the ears or hearts
she's due.

The very same
hunger and island
has shown through
our bones -
we are sickly little
skeletons; single-minded
pigeons pecking
until walls are shrunk,
magically, freeing us
just until we are
fluffed enough to
peck again.

I'm a heartbreaker for
the bad of ignorance,
and you're heartbroken for
the good of green eyes,
heavy words, and eternities
bound at your spiral.

It's the water drowning
my lungs. The polite
alien child of God,
I'm climbing through
apathy with a machete. I'm
walking back to the neutrality
that's stripped of condition,
where I can take Emily
to freedom.

The last stanza nearly brought me to tears. I wasn't even sure if I liked it at first, but the imagery is too gbrilliant not to. Totally agree with xanthan gum (whose style is quite similar to yours and whose I also adore). Congrats. Welcome.

It looks like we have a new poet on our site, and I happen to love your style. It's catchy, original and every line is full of imagery that makes sense - that has meaning. Nothing is useless, nothing is flair. Congratulations - for the first time in a long time, I have nothing to critique here.

I say Wolf, for all wolves are not of the same sort; there is one kind with an amenable disposition – neither noisy, nor hateful, nor angry, but tame, obliging and gentle, following the young maids in the streets, even into their homes. Alas! Who does not know that these gentle wolves are of all such creatures the most dangerous!
