I struggle.
I fight.
I can’t breathe.
I’m held down
by myself.
Time passes
without me.
I run.
I hide.
It finds me.
Everywhere I go.
It follows,
never far behind.
Waiting.
Waiting.
To drag me back.
Down.
Under.
To rip me open
and climb inside.
Nobody sees.
I’m a prisoner,
always afraid.
Always on the edge,
about to fall.
To take the plunge,
possibly my last.

I hope this isn't a personal poem... I hope you don't actually feel this alone and depressed. I've written many poems before about depression, and they all are real to me. (I write depression poems because I'm upset/alone often, not just making up how I feel) The way this poem is written is another one of those poems that really get to me.
Have a wonderful day! Happy writing!
You have lines full of anxiety, sorrow, fear, anticipation, and no self-confidence. These are just some of the things people experience, some on a daily basis. You're right about being lonely and misunderstood. It's like something's always preventing you from escaping your thoughts or yourself.
"To take the plunge,
possibly my last"
Those two lines are really bold, powerful in this writing. I'm so glad I selected to read your poem this morning, because it certainly got me thinking. Strong emphasis and repetition are used in here, which is good and re-enforces the meaning.
No rhyming was used, which in this case, is not needed. Your punctuation is excellent, and I don't see any mistakes. The 'it' in this poem is depression, I'm assuming? Because this poem is something good, something that people should take the time to stop and read. I love this piece of creative, yet burdening writing. Sometimes depression does hold you back. The important thing is to keep fighting.
Your work was outstanding and moving, obviously with troubling things. It was intense yet beautiful in a way. Feel free to check out my work under my author name. I enjoyed reading this, and I hope you have more work posted!
I love this simplistic portrayal of how depression feels. As I have experienced depression in my life, and know the despair it causes. I appreciate the thought you put into this.

I really enjoy the way you spread the poem out, the formatting is quite genius in my opinion.
I like when you said "I'm held down by myself" and "Always on the edge, about to fall. To take the plunge, possibly my last."
Because I find these lines to be the most powerful and real. Depression holds us down, and makes us feel this way. It's a harsh, and hard truth.
Many people who experience depression, also have suicidal thoughts or tendencies. It's so sad to think that this is true, but it is. Depression causes us to feel like we are going to fall down, ruin our lives. And that it will finally end now.
Such a real message.
Thank you.
If this is a personal poem and you need anyone to talk to or vent to, I am here to listen for you, or anyone else who needs it.
It's a struggle, but it can be overcome.
Have a wonderful day!

Hello!
The broken nature of the prose really goes far to show what depression actually feels like for a lot of people, I feel. It's jarring and final and leaves quite the impact. I really don't think that any comments about the simplicity of the piece as a negative thing are really appropriate here, since it's such a sensitive subject matter that can be difficult to articulate. I hope that if this is a personal piece writing it helped you. I'm sorry about the way I wrote this review I've never written one before so I'm worried I've done it wrong!! Please have a nice day and keep writing.
