The Dreamers Canvas I: Arrogant Veil, Lifted.

by thedreamerscanvas

I'm not a leader, I've never been.

Knees to the ground and arms to the ceiling,

Convicted of a day that I was sure was drawing near.

We would go down in history as those, that rotten generation

That blocked out the sun.

And his sister, the sky, was helpess to our ceaseless minds.

This time, no one would be left to mock and tease with rational hindsight.

Reduced,

Refined,

Extinct.

Convinced we were alive.

Convinced we were right.

There is nothing left here.

False birthrights dried up this arid rock,

And time and deceit did the rest.

Circadian rhythms destroyed,

neural networks disintegrated.

Balance beaten to death as an innocent bystander.

The great era of the bipeds, no finer example of the minimum.

The great plumes of smoke herald the death of all that is,

and the Earth began to heave and groan;

As she gave up her dead.

Welcome to YWS! I'm Thomas, relatively new, but I can tell you that this website is amazing.

Here's a review of your poem!

I really liked this. The idea of the human race being now seen as they actually are, a small race of "bipeds", was really genius. I enjoyed reading through this piece. It kept my attention well, and your word choice was really well done.

"Balance beaten to death as an innocent bystander."
This line was just brilliant. I don't know what it is, but it makes me really think about the world and how utterly screwed up we are. I believe that you really hit the nail on the head with a lot of this poem and am really impressed in the quality of your work.

I'm really looking forward to reading more from you.
You have a lot of talent and will really do well on this website.
Congratulations! :)
