Okay so I've written lyric poetry before but I've never submitted any to this site. I've never really thought any of my poetry was good enough but I just barely wrote this last month and I figured it's the best I've done so far so I might as well submit it.

School days that seem to come and go
But I’ll never forget that year
Because when I look out my window on a rainy day
I think of you
We were so young and now we’re much older
But have we really lost it completely?
I thought we had something
But now I find myself full of tears

Over the years I’ve matured
And what was important to me then isn’t important to me anymore
But when I look out the window on a rainy day
I still think of you
Everyone I knew told me I’m chasing an impossible dream
I neither agree nor disagree
But I do know one thing:
No matter what I’ll never ever…

Song after song comes on the radio
It’s not like I’ve stopped trying
You’re just not interested anymore
Our “just friends” status seems to stick
But I can’t help it
There’s just something about you that reminds me of a rainy day
We were so young and nothing’s the same
But no matter how many pieces you break my heart into
I’ll never stop trying
