I wrote this for one of my high school friends, whose relationship was kind of a Romeo and Juliet thing. I don't use punctuation in my poetry, so don't bother.

I see you standing there
I pretend not to care
We both know the story,
We both know the facts
Our parents didn’t approve
We’ve hit our max

Our friends all say it won’t last
It will soon just be something of the past
But they don’t understand
They don’t see what we see
We’re meant to be together, you with me

I know this love is forbidden,
But we don’t have to listen to what they say
We don’t have to do it their way
I love you and that’s all that matters
They will never agree with us,
But I say it’s to you or bust
Nothing they say will change my mind
This love will forever bind

We don’t have to listen to them
I will never bend
My parents may tell me to stay away,
But if I might say, they’re too late
I’m completely in love with you
I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew

They think this is just a phase
I’m just trapped in a maze
I’m too young to understand what I want
They all love to taunt
But someday they’ll see us for all we can be
Someday they’ll stop laughing, and congratulate me

I know this love is forbidden,
But we don’t have to listen to what they say
We don’t have to do it their way
I love you and that’s all that matters
They will never agree with us,
But I say it’s to you or bust
Nothing they say will change my mind
This love will forever bind

We meet on that stormy night
I love dances in the rain
I can’t feel any of the pain
I’m tired of playing this game
That night I kissed you
If they only knew
I can’t love anyone else the way I love you

Now you’re picking out that amazing dress
Forget about all this mess
It was just a test
Now I can hear that song,
And I give myself away to you
Those amazing words, “I do”

I know this love is forbidden,
But we don’t have to listen to what they say
We don’t have to do it their way
I love you and that’s all that matters
They will never agree with us,
But I say it’s to you or bust
Nothing they say will change my mind
This love will forever bind

They were wrong…

Poetry is thoughts that breathe, and words that burn.
