To make a homemade jean couch is something that you'll look back on and be proud to say , 'I did it!'

Every time you sit and grab that bag of popcorn, while watching that chick flick you'll be admiring that beautiful couch. Whether you did it all by yourself or got a group of friends to help out, you'll be the proud new owner of a denim beauty that can hold your remote!

I'm now in the process of sewing together my jean couch and it has been quite a journey. I asked my friends to give me old pairs of jeans, but if you want to make the couch a bit more personalized then ask them to write a message on the jeans' leg or any other place that is sure to be on your couch!

The next step is to start going through the jeans and start over-locking them,(the process of cutting, shaping and edging material using a machine).  It is neater than just cutting them into squares and will ensure that your materials will last, as they would split if you chose not to do this. However not all of us have an over-locking machine and I recommend that you fold the length and breadth on all your cut out jeans that you are sewing, so that you still have the double layer effect. It does take some time and you don't have to rush the project , I did my couch over school holidays!

Once you are satisfied with your squares, you can now grab a needle and thread and start sewing away. Plot your patterns and turn up the music! If you are anything like me and you are not very skilled when it comes to sewing, get an adult to help you and just show you the basics. Remember the saying 'less is more.'

When you have finished and you're just looking for some creative aspects to make yours different than the others, try some food coloring? How about some buttons? Glitter?

Make it into something that says it's yours!

Have fun , I promise you it's worth the hours!

Your instructions are not for the simple minded. Take me for example, i make a lot of mistakes so if you are giving instructions you should make sure they are specific and detailed to some extent. Also you could use discourse markers such as firstly, secondly. It would help establish there different steps involved rather than just by use of paragraphs. This is especially important when making something because people often like to know how much steps there are. Also you mix your opinion in easily with the instructions thus it can confuse people. I clicked on this out of curiosity and it seems you have quite a spark in your head(compliment, sorry if i sounded scathing, was not the intention)
