It’s crazy how the same person who once made you feel like the happiest version of yourself can also be the one to break you the most. As they say, “everything comes with a consequence.” If loving someone means risking the pain they might cause, then maybe it's safer not to love at all.
But then I wonder…Was it ever really love? Did you mean it when you said, “I love you” It’s a rhetorical question — because deep down, I think I already know the answer.

This is my first time reading a poem in yws. I got to say, this was already quite the experience as I too write about topics like this.
You're right, it is crazy when the person who made you feel like you're on cloud 9 could also make you feel like you're drowning, just like that. I couldn't have phrased the feeling as greatly as you did. This is my first time reading a poem in this lyrical-prose kind of format and it is quite interesting to say the least.
As for my personal pov to this, I think we never stop loving even when we decide not to. Love is not always romantic, the way you wrote this poem shows how full of love you already are and that's the beauty of it. Hope to see more of your work, keep writing.

The first line of your poem strikes me the most.
'' It’s crazy how the same person who once made you feel like the happiest version of yourself can also be the one to break you the most. ''
As much as you love someone, and cherish them, you or they could be the one to break each other's heart. Sometimes people who love each other, sometimes break each other's talk.
Overall, this is a very good, poem (is it a poem?).

heya! great poem! firstly, its very relatable. weighing the risk of pain with the gain of love, questioning whether they loved you at all, how completely opposite someone can make you feel, is all something that atleast I can relate to, and im sure as may others can, atleast in some way. at the end, when you put "I just wanna be loved" in extremely large text, i feel like it really captures the sense of a feeling or thought dominating your mind, being the only thing you think of and echoing in on itself, which works really well for the end and makes the reader pause and think a bit. one bit of constructive criticism is that, while you capture the theme well, it could be a little longer, as its a little hard to concentrate on so few words. all in all, great poem! keep writing!
Thank youuu!!
Hey Sob(Hope it's okay)..I see that your new here, first of all hearty welcome to YWS. It's alwaysea here.
First of all, the title was catchy — it instantly caught my attention. I could completely relate to it because I’ve often struggled with the same question myself. Not “Was it love?” but rather, “Was there love?”
What I really want to share is that as we grow, our priorities naturally change. The love that once feels like everything — something we believe is enough to survive on — slowly starts to lose its place when reality comes into play. Life demands more than love; we can’t eat or live off emotions alone. Responsibilities, exhaustion, and the daily struggles often bury that tender affection deep inside our hearts.
But that doesn’t mean we stop needing love. What we truly need is *support* — someone who stands beside us through the hardest moments. When you have that, no one can truly break you. The sad part is, finding that kind of support is not easy, because life can change everything in the blink of an eye.
So here’s what I believe:
* Do love, but never trust blindly.
* Do love, but never follow someone else’s path.
* Do love, but always keep yourself first.
* Do love, but never let it become the cause of your pain.
* Do love, but make sure your space is always respected.
Overall, a good piece — and I’d suggest extending it with a few more of your thoughts; it has great emotional depth already. All the best for your future writings, and have a wonderful day!
Thank youuu
