I miss you mama though I always see you,
It pains me not to say this to you.
Can you still recognize me?
It’s as if a stranger, I’ll forever be.
You’re so near and yet so far,
It feels really bizarre.
I need you to smile, just one smile…
I want to see it even just awhile.
I miss you mama can’t you see…
How happy I can truly be?
I’m not perfect, I’m not you,
But all of me is true.
This is not the daughter you’ve once raised,
But I refuse to be erased.
Don’t wash me away with those memories
And drowned away in these complexities.
I miss your smile; I miss your scent,
I miss the times we’ve spent.
Caress me in your embrace again.
Don’t let our heart stain.
I miss you mama please stay with me,
Let my light find the key,
The key that will bring us back together.
Let me stay in your arms from hereafter.
I miss you mama, I miss you so,
Though you’re just passing me to and fro.
Please stop and look at me.
Can’t you see me? Can’t you hear me?
Wounded and scarred before you I stand,
Asking for you to take my hand.
Let me into your arms I beg you.
I miss you mama, I miss you.
I like this, thought there are a few minor problems. The whole basis for the poem is beautiful and sad and very well thought-out to be put into words. I can't quite find a good rhythm, though, so you might want to work on that. In some places, such as the last stanza, the rhythm is pretty good, but whatever is established is demolished later on and it becomes confusing. Also, some of the rhymes seem forced, such as these:
"Can you still recognize me?
It’s as if a stranger, I’ll forever be."
"I need you to smile, just one smile…
I want to see it even just awhile."
I think a little more time could be spent cleaning those up, that's all. Although, some of those rhymes were quite well done, I think, so it's only a few of them that seem awkward.
"Caress me in your embrace again.
Don’t let our heart stain."
This confused me. The rhyme is weak, but it works, so that's not what bothers me. I don't know what "our heart stain" is supposed to mean. If it was "my heart break" or something, it would make a whole lot more sense, I suppose. But that phrase is really confusing.
Otherwise, I like this poem! I would like to see more.
