I was flicking through an old book
The other day and came across
A postcard.
Just a simple postcard.
But withered, and old,
Yellow, tea-stained
And dirty.
But under the remnant of years,
Even decades,
Lay a painting.
Not a real one, a print;
But still a painting.
Oil on Canvas
121.9 x 90.2 cm
Anonymous,
It was.
Painted by an inspired man,
Unturned by fame,
Painting only to enjoy
And to upturn the corners
Of a mouth.
And it did that.
Wow, that is the true meaning of cool. And we all can relate, I'm sure.
i really like it... its so simple but it seems so meaningful and you have great descriptions... good job!
It really gives the reader a strong sense of mood feeling and i love the specfic details and images.
Ooh, good way to put it Rei. That's a neat effect... make your reader feel the same as your protaganist... I like.
Yes, it is deceptively simple. It's easy to understand, and has some wonderful feelings behind it. This poem had the same effect on me as the painting had on the narrator.
It was nice. Simple and innocent but with something deeper than what the words show. I like the past stanza the best.
Keep up the good work.
