the days

Okay this is not for you literal poets. If I get told to clarify what I am talking about, I might scream. This is for the reader's interpretation. (Written on July 5th of this year, so I might have forgotton what it was about. This poem's also found under my account on deviantart.)

The days by JMS

Black and deep
sunk below.

A heartless beast.
A ruthless foe.

Warm and bright
floating above:

a shimmering light,
a simple love.

Hmm, well, this is certainly an interesting poem. I really like those poems where it seems as if the writer wrote it with some meaning that is hidden behind the veal of words and when asked to clarify, the words jsut say "Screw off! Figure it out yourself!" Of course, I'm not saying your poem is angry or has that teenage angst or anything, I'm just saying that it sort of tells the reader to think for his/her self for once.

Hello there and welcome to YWS! :)
hmm, a poem that makes me think...After reading this, I had my own interpretation. I thought this poem was saying that there are good and bad days in general, but that's my interpretation. I liked it, but for me it was too short. I mean, for it to convey the proper message you were aiming for, it was too precise. Then in such cases, it feels as if the writer was catering for themselves, not writing something that the reader can connect with. However, I do have my own interpretation and I am proud of myself for making an attempt to solve the puzzle and I commend you for writing such a poem.

Keep writing and good luck!

You were right to not give this a particular subject, or to tell the reader what it is about because that is the art in it. I really like this because it is short, has no concrete meanig--it can leave the mind wondering "what is this? Let me read it again..." This is very different and I think you were right to put it under 'other'.
Stay different, and keep these types of poems coming!
