Dancing in Memories

I cling to the memory
of the night we danced.

The music moved us
back and forth,
one-two-three, one-two-three.

My skirt, a violet blade,
cut through the air
as you twirled me.

Wordlessly, you lead me
with the rhythm,
your spins dizzying.

But the music always ends,
and soon the world went home,
so we had to say goodbye.

Though many nights have passed,
and I doubt you recall me,
I hope never to forget.

So many fear to dance,
yet I fear never dancing again
as I did that night with you.

This just seems so magical. I wish that I had a moment like this with someone, but I don't think it's going to happen. The next best thing is reading about it when someone really talented describes it in a poem for you. :) I could almost feel myself swaying back and forth with the the rhythm, of course the music is only in my head but everything's better when it's in my head. Thanks for giving me a magical moment.

This sounds like a sad nostalgic poem and I really love it. I think there should be more detail though and you should probably take the "S" off of "Memories" because she is only dancing in one. That or add more memories of dancing unless she only danced with him once. Then that explains her reason to cling to this memory. ^_^

That poem is so sweet and pretty emotional . You describe exactly what happens and I love the metaphor of the skirt being a blade :) But you could use some more of these metaphors or other literary devices . Also the first stanzas were beautifully tied together , but the last one kinda stood out , even thought usually the last stanza is the ending that wraps up all the ideas and the story . But still great flow and feeling :)

Wow, I really loved this! Great description, story line, word usage, flow, everything! Great job on this! My favorite parts were

"one-two-three, one-two-three."

"My skirt, a violet blade,
cut through the air
as you twirled me." (Being my favorite)

"Wordlessly, you lead me
with the rhythm,
your spins dizzying. "

I do not have any critique, as this was brilliant!

Hello there, Niteowl! ^^

Woot! I'm the first reviewer for this nice piece of yours! I haven't wrote a review in a little while so forgive me if this isn't all that helpful. I'll start with my opinion about this poem in its entirety and then I'll get into it a little deeper and talk about the stanzas. =)

I enjoyed reading this poem. It has this nice dreamy feeling to it and made me smile (and that's always a good sign, right? =P). I like the title you used for this, it's what pulled me right in. ^^ Alright, I am not that great in writing long opinions about poems so I'll just get to the stanzas instead. =)

I cling to the memory
of the night we danced.

A nice beginning! It shows how the narrator looks back at that memory by simply inserting 'cling' there. Very nicely done. =) I suggest you add another line to this stanza though. It will make your poem look better because all the other stanzas consist of three lines.

The music moved us
back and forth,
one-two-three, one-two-three.

This stanza is simple but yet it really adds to this poem. =) The counting made me start smiling. XD

My skirt, a violet blade,
cut through the air
as you twirled me.

Very nice description! It creates this beautiful image and I totally imagined the girl giggling happily here.

Wordlessly, you lead me
with the rhythm,
your spins dizzying.

Have no comment for this other then that I just like it. ^^

But the music always ends,
and soon the world went home,
so we had to say goodbye.

I kind of liked this stanza less than the others. It kind of snapped me out of the poem because it was suddenly a bit more realistic.

Though many nights have passed,
and I doubt you recall me,
I hope never to forget.

D'aww this sad. =( Poor narrator. Nicely written!

So many fear to dance,
yet I fear never dancing again
as I did that night with you.

A nice way to end this poem. I like it. =)

Alright, that was all I had to say! I enjoyed reading this and you keep writing! ^^
