Elena

CHAPTER 1-The News

"Elena come down stairs it's time for dinner!"

Mom's voice traveled through the house to my room.

"Ok Mom I’m coming!" I shouted back to her while getting off my bed and headed toward the door.

Before I left, I snuck a look in my full-length mirror. I sighed, as always my brown hair looked flat and life less. I tried pulling it back to show my face better it worked my green-blue colored eyes were easier to see when my hair was out the way. I smiled noticing the way my lower lip looked a little uneven with the upper one. *Sigh* it was something I was gonna have to live with. I headed out my room and into the hall. While walking down the hall I heard music coming from Jason's room. My older brother, a tall green-eyed brown haired guy, was a junior in college his major was animation and computer graphics. When he first told my parents that's what he wanted to do, they weren’t to happy but Jason somehow turned them around to his side. And because of his major being at the nearby university, he was able to stay home with us and that really made me happy (he's one of my fav relatives.) I opened the door and saw him reading a magazine on his bed

"Jason it's time for dinner"

"Yea I know I’m not hungry" He sounded annoyed and angry.

"What’s wrong?" I walked over to his bed and sat down. Then I took the magazine from him so I could see his face. He looked annoyed with me, smiling I tried to persuade him to talk, it worked.

"Janette," Janette was Jason's girlfriend, at first I was fond of her but then she grew on me. Their relationship was usually on and off. I sighed at him.

"What did you do to annoy her now?"

"I didn’t do anything" He sounded defensive.

"Then what's wrong?"

"Well, I forgot it was her birthday yesterday and now she's all mad and what not. It wasn’t my fault that I forgot." He seemed to be whining.

"One of the things you never do to a girl is forgetting her birthday. Shame on you." I teased him while pulling him out of his room and downstairs.

"You think you’re so cute" he snapped back and put me in a head lock while giving me a nuggy. I yelped in pain and tried to beat him off. It didn’t work he was bigger than me.

"Don’t beat up your sister..." Mom told him without even really sounding like she cared. But it did get him off of me.

Mom was busy moving around the kitchen. She was a beautiful woman with wonderful long brown wavy hair; her eyes were a soft blue. Even though mom seemed homely she could be pretty intimidating. She's a lawyer who has her own firm: Anita Lanes Law Services and it was always easy for her to win a case.

"So what’s for dinner Madre?" Jason asked mom while helping me set the table.

Just then the door opened and dad came in laughing loudly on his cell phone. He came through the entryway from the hall to the kitchen looking like he just drank 2 cans of Red Bull. He sprang up to mom grabbed her by the waist and gave her a big kiss. It was kinda nice but gross too. The twins, Krissy and Shawn, walked in to see the adult make-out show. In unison each kid went "eww..."

Jason then howled at them saying "Mom and dad are getting busy!"

Everyone burst into laughs after that. Including dad who finally pulled away from mom, who looked quite happy at the greeting she got from her husband in fact she looked completely out of it and dazed. With a full blown blush on her face she asked her husband what the occasion was for the fancy kiss.

"Well guys I got a promotion!" Dad seemed supper excited and we all cheered with him. My dad worked in a housing business, I'm not really sure what he does but I know he works there and they gave him a raise!! WHOO!!

"That's great dad....ummm what do you do again?" Shawn asked while walking to the table with Krissy close at his heels. Shawn and Krissy were about 7 and usually together. They both had long dirty blonde hair and green eyes (like dad). Shawn was older then Krissy by 3 minutes and he was usually the talker of the two. Krissy would sometimes go days without talking because Shawn would say everything for her, it's like their connected by mind, it's kinda creepy.

"Well kiddo I'm the new head of management for the company!" Dad was smiling ear to ear excitement beaming from his face. With the announcement mom gave him a bear hug, we all did.

"This calls for junk food let's all go out." I hoped out loud with sounds of agreement from my siblings.

"I’m ok with that as long as your mom says yes." Dad looked at mom for approval, she nodded her head yes.

The family headed out to a nearby restaurant we took two cars. When waiting for a table I heard mom and dad whispering to each other about something. I heard my name a few times. I then strained myself to hear them over the crowd in the restaurant.

"How are we gonna tell the kids about it?" Mom sounded nervous, she continued to talk," I know Elena won’t be happy about it she’s starting her junior year soon.."

"I know that what makes me nervous. Can’t we just tell them the day we leave" Dad was teasing mom; she didn’t seem to like it.

"That's not funny...And what about Jason does he stay here? Or come with us?"

"Relax...well just explain to them about it don’t worry. Hopefully they'll understand"

I was completely confused. What were they talking? Where are we going? Suddenly I felt my stomach lurch as I realized what they may have been talking about. Oh lord please let me be wrong!

The waiter then came over and guided us to a table, as we neared I felt myself get more nervous. My eyes were darting every where I was paranoid at just the thought of what was gonna happen.

"You ok Elena?" Jason asked while putting his hand lightly on my shoulder. I was so deep in thought I jumped at the touch.

"I-I'm fine"

He looked at me suspiciously; "You're not on drugs are you? You seem fidgety." He leaned in closer as if to check my eyes and my smell. I shied away from his gaze. I knew he was joking and that's one of things that I love most about him. But I was anxious to know what mom and dad had been talking about.

Mom and dad gradually stalled making me go silently crazy. I felt a small touch on my arm, it was Krissy her expression showed concern I gave her a wryly smile.

"What’s wrong Elena? Is the food bad?" Shawn asked probably speaking for both Krissy and him.

"Uh...I’m fine...Actually Mom, dad," I took a deep breath and blurted the thought on my mind "Are we moving?"

The surprise on their face showed I hit the correct assumption. Mom looked away from my gaze, dad fumbled for words, I knew it, we were gonna move. *Sigh* this is like the 7th time. Because of dad's job we had to move a lot, I hated it. The feeling of not really belonging, of having to start over again and again. We had finally settled down for the past 21/2 yrs. I finally felt right and comfortable now they were just gonna uproot us from the only place I've officially called home. There silence answered my question. I turned to see Jason looking furious; I had a good understanding why he would be mad.

"Well are we?!" Impatience and anger rang through his words. Shawn and Krissy looked confused, there were young and it was sort of easy to move at their age Krissy still carried a teddy bear. They probably don’t even remember moving too much."Look guys we are gonna have to move. The company made me head of management at the head office-"

"Where?" Jason and I said at the same time, agony in our voice.

Dad looked down and wringed his napkin with his hand.

"It's not that far guys-" Mom tried to calm us down. We ignored her and asked dad again.

"Where?!"

"South Carolina...."

"Not that far! We live in Connecticut!" I wasn’t having this.

"Wait a minute where does that leave me?" Jason looked shocked. "You're not kicking me out are you?!"

"What?! No we would never honey. But it's your choice if you want to move with us." Mom was using a calming voice. But Jason and I both knew he was either gonna have to transfer or live with someone, mom was just sugar coating the words.

"Why do we have to move again and now? Couldn’t you not accept the raise?"

"Honey it’s a raise you don’t turn down a raise." Dad tried defending his choice, but he wasn’t winning me over.

"ARGGHHHH!!! I'm so tired of moving!!" I got up from the table grabbed my jacket and went outside.

"Where are you going?!"

"The car!!!"

"Do you have the keys?!" I stopped in the middle of my dramatic exit walk and sighed, so much for being cool about it. I walked back to the table grabbed Jason car's keys, ignoring his protests. And walked away saying over my shoulder "This doesn’t take away the dramaticness of my leaving!" Once we got home I didn’t bother trying to listen to my parents plead I was pissed and I wanted to be alone. The thought of having to leave bothered so much to the point sleeping seemed impossible. I was born in Massachusetts, and then moved to Maine, then Pennsylvania, then New Jersey, and then Illinos then back to New York after that I stopped. And eventually we ended up in Connecticut when I started freshmen year. How am I supposed to deal with this I thought to myself finally falling asleep? All I know is telling my friends is prop gonna be the hardest thing about this entire situation.

***********

"You’re moving!!" Alice wailed as we walked towards the park. Alice, a short pixie like girl with bright brown eyes and personality that would make a suicidal person happy, was one of my closest friends. She was the first person to talk to me when we moved to New Haven. Literally the first person when we moved here, I walked outside the house and Alice was walking down the street. She basically ran at me and asked if I had just moved here after we talked for a little she invited my whole family to her parents’ restaurant. Since then we've been best friends.

"I can't believe it. Why would your dad make you move it's not fair? I know what I'll do, I’m gonna tie you to my house that way you can’t leave." She smiled at me, trying to get me to laugh, it worked

"As fun as that sounds I don’t think my mom would let you. Plus dad already picked out a school and house." I sighed a heavy sigh.

"How are you gonna tell Matt?"

"Crap, I hadn’t thought of that." Matt was my boyfriend we've been going out since last summer. He was amazing and hot. Matt had dark brown eyes and played every sport imaginable, which gave him the buff athletic look. Probably the nicest sweetest boy I've ever met, now I was gonna lose him. I felt my heart ache at just the thought.

"Well you better think of it now, cuz here he comes" Alice pointed down the sidewalk and sure enough Matt was walking toward us, he seemed excited about something. I skidded to a halt and turned toward Alice; "What do I say?" I heard my voice go an octave higher then usual, I was panicking.

"Relax just tell him up front and here he comes." At that I felt Matt's hands wrap around my waist and his lips brush along my cheek. Alice slowly slid away giving us privacy. Great just when I needed her.

"Hey E, what up? I was actually coming to see you." I turned around and really looked at him. His eyes were dazzling and he seemed super jazzed. My heart shot into a quick sprint. I was gonna miss him so much.

"Hey Matt...Why were you coming to see me?" I quickly thought if today was a date or an anniversary or anything, it wasn’t.

"I got accepted to Lincoln E. High!" He shot his arms in the air with excitement. I felt a sharp jab in my chest. Lincoln E. High was the same school I was in and Matt wanted to go for two reason the sports were awesome and because I was there. WAS there....

"OHH, that’s great" I tried really hard to sound happy for him, honestly I was but the whole moving thing made it hard. I turned away hoping he believed the fake excitement in my voice. He heard it alright.

"What's wrong?" He turned my chin towards him. My face instantly went into a pout, this was a lot harder then I wanted it to be. I buried my face in his chest he was so warm and for a boy who played sports he always smelled like cinnamon.

"E, seriously wants wrong?" He instinctively wrapped his arm around me. Why was he such a good boyfriend, he was making this hard. I took a deep breath inhaling his scent.

"I'm moving Matt." The words came out in an almost whisper. Matt's hands dropped from my waist and he pulled me away so he could look at me. He seemed upset, sad and angry all at once. The sharp pain I felt in my chest earlier came again.

"What?" His voice almost sounded dead.

"I’m moving around August. To...South Carolina" I struggled to say the state name. I felt horrible and just by looking at his face it made me feel worse. I felt my eyes sting, DON’T CRY ELENA NOT IN FRONT OF HIM!!

"Why schools about to start? Why would you need to move now?" He was angry, probably at me.

"My dad got a promotion to be head of monument at the main office which is in South Carolina." My voice cracked again as I struggled to tell him the details.

Without thinking we had gravitated to the benches and sat down. I sat with my face toward the ground, I felt hot tears streak down my face.

"Babe are you crying?" Matt took me into a hug trying to calm me down. WHY WAS HE SO AMAZING?!!!

"Don’t cry please...its ok I know it sucks...but...," he muttered under his breath a curse and sighed. I sat up straight I was causing him problems I didn’t want to do that. I quickly wiped the tears and tried to pull myself together. No one liked a crying girlfriend.

"I’m ok...It’s just I didn’t expect you to be so nice about it and calm. And its making me feel bad."

"Well I’m sorry, I’m not mad at you", we both chuckled at the joke, "But the person I’m mad at is your dads stupid company." He ran his hands through his hair and sighed. Without seeing it coming he sprang up from the bench and cradled my face in his hands.

"Ok so you’re moving and it sucks, but that doesn’t change anything about us ok. We'll make it work and until the day of doom I’m gonna make this the most amazing summer you'll ever have. What do you say?" He smiled at me with excitement and anticipation. I didn’t expect this at all. In fact I thought he would've dumped me right here and now. I didn’t give Matt enough credit. I smiled back at him and swung my arms around his neck.

"You're the best you know that?"

"Only because of you" He replied back while leaning in closer to kiss me. Out of nowhere we heard Alice and 2 unfamiliar voices behind us say in unison "AWWWWWW!!!"

We turned around to see Alice and an elderly couple looking at us like we were a romantic movie couple.

The elderly lady had white fluffy hair, and a cane, the man was straight bald with reading glasses balancing on his nose. Both Matt and I blushed at how they looked at us.

"Herb why don’t you kiss me like that anymore?" The elderly woman complained to her husband while pushing him in the gut.

"Yea Herb you gotta make her swoon." Alice addressed him like they were long time friends.

"Martha I’m old...But know this honey I’m even more in love with you since the day I laid eyes on you." He beamed at how he made his wife happy.

Alice gave him a thumbs up and mouthed the words "nice come back" to him. We laughed and left the park together.

Ok so the worst is over and I could spend my summer with my boyfriend and best friend that’s a pretty good deal. I just wish it wasn’t my last summer with them. At least Jason's gonna be with us... right?

Chapter 2- Big Brother

*Knock Knock* Went whoever was behind my door. I looked up and told whoever to go away. I was giving my parents the silent treatment, so if it was them to bad.

"It's your wonderful brother Jason!" He said back to me while opening my door and coming in. "I gotta talk to you E." He looked worried and uncertain as he shut my door and took the chair from my desk to sit down on.

"If it’s bad news I don’t want to hear." I shooed him off the desk chair giving him my bed. We traded seats and I turned on my computer.

"Well kid, I'm sorry it is bad news sort of." He reached over turned my chair around to face him. He was really serious; he had a worry line across his forehead.

"I'm gonna move in with Janette." He told me straight up without beating around the bush. I couldn’t believe it. I wouldn’t.

"You're joking? You gotta be. And if you are you're losing your funny bro." I chuckled lightly and waited for him to tell me he was lying. His eyes were deep and serious.

"NO!" I cried aloud putting my face in my hands. Why was everything going wrong? This was all dads’ fault!

"Elena," Jason pulled on my hands. I pushed his hands away from me; I didn’t feel like being touched. He continued to explain himself.

"I have to do this Elena. I can’t keep mooching off mom and dad. I gotta be on my own." He sounded convinced that this was right.

"No you can keep mooching off of them!!! IT’S OK! Don't leave..." I had really started crying.

"I can’t do that E, I don’t know how to explain it to you but I need to do this."

"FINE!! Then leave, were getting tired of you anyway! No one needed you to stay in the first place!" I tried to get up and leave but Jason pulled on my arm to stay.

"E I’m sorry... I know I promised I would stay but-"

"But what? You just don’t want to live with the rents anymore? Is this some stupid ego thing? Are you mad at mom and dad? At me?" I whispered the last part. I needed Jason he was the only one I could really talk to. A few years back when Jason was starting college and was undecided in a major he lived in the dooms. At that same time I had gotten really sick, there was something up with my kidneys. I couldn’t go to school or anything so Jason came back home to take care of me. At one point my illness got so bad I needed a kidney transplant and Jason gave me his. No one had told me till the day after surgery, I woke to fine Jason on the hospital bed next to me. I started freaking out thinking he got sick to, till one of the nurses came in and explained to me what happened. When he woke up I asked him why, I told him I could've gotten a kidney from a different donor his exact words were "Your my little sister I love you and I wasn’t gonna let some stranger's kidney be in you so I gave you mine." He had said it with a smile as if it was everyday thing to give someone your kidney. Since then we've basically been inseparable, Jason knew almost everything about me.

"Why would I be mad at you E?" He got up from my bed; it made him a whole lot taller, and gave me hug. I didn’t answer him and just cried into his shirt, making it all wet with tears.

"I’m sorry you know I would stay if I could but...." He sniffed and I looked up at him he wasn’t really crying but his eyes were watery. God I’m so selfish the guy gave me a kidney and I’m acting like such a spoiled brat.

"I’m sorry Jay....Look if your gonna leave you better write every freaking day. Do you understand me?"

"I promise I will...and you better not be bad or anything. I know you’re mad at the rents but even though it may not seem like, they're trying to do what’s best for you." His voice was calm and even.

"Kay and don’t do anything stupid...like die or something that would be bad." I looked up at him with a playful expression, hoping to make him smile, he did

"I'll try my best not to croak." He chuckled gave me another hug and left.

*Sigh* Life isn’t fun anymore. Just then my cell phone started ringing Weak by Jojo, it was Matt.

"Hello?" My voice was still uneven from the crying.

"You ok?" Mats voice sounded alert. He really did love me I beamed at the thought.

"I’m fine...sort of just found out Jason's not moving with us...." I trailed off; I didn’t feel like giving details.

"I’m sorry you guys are pretty close right?"

"Yea"

"Mhm...Well I call bearing good news?"

"What’s up" I had gravitated to my bed.

"Do you want to come to the beach with my family this weekend?"

My heart sped up. Did he mean the whole weekend? As in staying overnight? I asked him.

"Uhh. Yea my parents rented a beach house somehow they got an extra house. I thought maybe you would want to come. You can bring your brother or your family. "Whatever works?" He sounded hopeful.

"Really? I just gotta ask permission."

"Great call I back when you know you can go."

"Kay bye"

I hung up the phone excited and happy. I quickly ran downstairs to ask my parents if I could go.

Mom and dad said yes as long as I brought Jason with me. That was cool it would prop be less embarrassing if Jason went. At least that was what I thought.

"Can’t believe you acted like that Jason."

"He was being fresh I wasn’t just gonna let him act like that."

"He was not being fresh you're just paranoid." I opened my car door and walked into the house with my stuff. I saw mom in the kitchen over a pile of papers and things

"Hey kiddo your back. How was it?"

"Your son is crazy and just weird." I told her as I opened the fridge looking for juice. That's when Jason came in with the rest of our stuff.

"Sue me for trying to protect you. You're my little sister I’m not gonna let some kid get to close." Jason was pleading for me to forgive him.

"So what happened?" Mom seemed confused at our agreement.

"This Matt kid was all over her mom, so I scared him a bit and now Elena’s mad at me." He huffed a sigh after his sentence as if explaining only half the story was a workout.

"He was What with Whom?!" Mom looked angry at me like it was my fault.

"Mom he wasn’t all over me ok...Jason just over reacted he was everywhere. If Matt and I went to the pier he was there hiding behind a crowd of people. If we went for a walk Jason was 2 feet behind."

"PSHH I didn’t hide behind people." He then softly mumbled "I hid behind a plant." As if that justified what he did!!!

"You see! At one point he growled at Matt. Like A Dog!!"

"He growled?" Mom looked at her son with bewildered eyes.

"Yes, BIG BROTHER WAS EVERYWHERE!! Matt couldn’t even kiss me bye because Jason was staring him down mom. He was staring daggers!" I made my hand into a fist and pretended a dagger was there.

"I wasn’t staring 'daggers'," Jay made air quotes out of his fingers "I was just giving him a warning. You can’t blame me for wanting you to be safe." He held up his hands like he was innocent. I heard a giggle from mom. I looked at her with a stern expression, she suppressed her laugh.

While trying to keep a straight face she finally said something;" Jason there was no need to growl at the boy. You should have just talked to him. He’s only 15; he wouldn’t have tried anything especially if his own parents were there"

"Finally Justice!"

"Mom that’s the reason I was so tough on the kid. He’s 15 do you know what goes on in the mind of a 15 year old boy? Things Mom Things." He narrowed his eyes at her "I would know I was one of them, ahh those were good times good times." He said while stealing my juice.

At the same time both mom and I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Not all boys are prevs like you were." I told him, he looked at me with amazement on his face. And even more amazing mom backed me up.

"You just got burned Jason...Do you need ice?" She giggled at both of our reaction as to how hip she seemed.

"Mom! You know what a burn is?"

"How old do you think I am Elena." she paused a sec." You know what don’t answer that."

"I’m sorry Elena ok...I won’t scare off your amazing Matt anymore." He looked a little defeated but happy I wasn’t mad at him anymore.

"That all I ask Jason." I ruffled his hair and went up stairs.

"Elena come down stairs it's time for dinner!"

yeah, like wildest temptations said, add a comma after Elena. oh, and i'd try and split it into two sentences. *"Elena, come down stairs. It's time for dinner!"*
When he first told my parents that's what he wanted to do, they weren’t to happy but Jason somehow turned them around to his side.

i think you meant too before happy.
"Jason it's time for dinner"

comma after jason.
"Yea I know I’m not hungry" He sounded annoyed and angry.
yeah, i love commas, haha. umm, after Yea and maybe a period after I know.
"South Carolina...."

keep it to only three dot, dot, dot's.
and for the sentences with the multiple exclamation marks or question marks, i'd reduce them down to only one per sentence.
"I’m moving around August. To...South Carolina" I struggled to say the state name.

add a period after South Carolina.
"No you can keep mooching off of them!!! IT’S OK! Don't leave..." I had really started crying.

italicizing where words are capitalized have the same effect.
and, like some of the others said, elena's friend alice seems too much like the one in twilight. i'm not really that fond of the book, so i think you should steer away from characters like that. so, yea, name change! and i'd describe her differently. find another word rather than pixie.
but overall, i liked this.
i liked how you introduced the characters, and it this doesn't seem that rushed. (i kind of have that problem)
this was very good, though.
-julie (:

this was a very nice story. i liked how you introduced the family members and it looked like they were all pretty close, espcially elena and her brother. i can relate to that. i am also very close with my brother though he still does irritate me at times.

anyway i liked the way you ste out your story and there seemed to be a very nice flow to the story. the only thing i didn't really like was your character, alice. this was exactly the same character like in twilight. but anyways it was still good!!

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:"Elena[,] come down stairs it's time for dinner!"

There should be a comma after Elena.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:"Ok Mom[,] I’m coming!"

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:I tried pulling it back to show my face better it worked my green-blue colored eyes were easier to see when my hair was out the way.

This is a run-on sentence. It can be fixed by adding a comma or two, a semi-colon, or breaking it into more than one sentence. Here is what I would do:

I tried pulling it back to show my face better; it worked. My green-blue eyes were easier to see when my hair was out of the way.
OR
I tried pulling it back to show my face better; it worked. My green-blue eyes attracted more attention when my hair was out of the way.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:*Sigh* it was something I was gonna have to live with.

Why the asterisks?(*) It would be easier for the reader if you said something like:

Seeing this caused me to sigh; it was something I was going to have to live with.

Unless a character is speaking, I find it very annoying when I read a story and I find that the author has put two words together that should not be.
ie. gonna (going to), hafta (have to), gotta (got to), kinda (kind of), etc.
This shows laziness, and I get the impression that you don't care about your story.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:And because of his major being at the nearby university, he was able to stay home with us and that really made me happy (he's one of my fav relatives.)

Maybe use the word "because" instead of brackets. Like this:

And because of his major being at the nearby university, Jason was able to stay home with us and that made me happy because he was one of my favorite relatives.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:I opened the door and saw him reading a magazine on his bed[,]
"Jason it's time for dinner[.]"
"Yea[,] I know I’m not hungry[.]" He sounded annoyed and angry.

Just some missing punctuation.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:Even though mom seemed homely she could be pretty intimidating.

"Homely" means ugly. This contradicts what's just been said.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote: She's a lawyer who has her own firm: Anita Lanes Law Services and it was always easy for her to win a case.

Perhaps dashes(-) could be used here:
She's a lawyer who has her own firm - Anita Lane's Law Services - and it was always easy for her to win a case.

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:"So what’s for dinner[,] Madre?"

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:In unison[,] each kid went "eww..."

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:Alice, a short pixie like girl with bright brown eyes and personality that would make a suicidal person happy

The Alice in your story seems remarkably similar to the Alice in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series. I am what one would call a "Twilight Fanatic" and it turns me off completely when I see characters in other stories modeled after Stephanie's. Perhaps this was unintentional, and I mean no offense even if it wasn't. If my assumption is correct and your Alice is modeled after Stephanie's Alice, it tells me that you are lazy in the fact that you cannot be bothered to think up your own characters. Perhaps even a change of name would stop this assumption?

--------

There are a lot of run-on sentences in your story, but nothing that can't be fixed with a few commas, semi colons or periods.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, and don't let my nitpicking through the first bit of the story tell you otherwise. I was just simply trying to help you develop your talent. I look forward to reading more of this story. :D

Hey! The beginning of the story kept my attention. I enjoyed the narrator's (Elena) voice.

Corrections: I found words such as 'headlock', 'staircase', and 'downstairs' that you wrote as separate words.

You had run-on sentences that needed more commas, such as

mydestinyawaits03 wrote:Including dad who finally pulled away from mom, who looked quite happy at the greeting she got from her husband in fact she looked completely out of it and dazed.
and
mydestinyawaits03 wrote:My dad worked in a housing business, I'm not really sure what he does but I know he works there and they gave him a raise!!

Another problem:
mydestinyawaits03 wrote:She was a beautiful woman with wonderful long brown wavy hair; her eyes were a soft blue. Even though mom seemed homely she could be pretty intimidating.
Homely normally means 'ugly'...possibly you meant something else?

You also had some incorrect punctuation. For example:
mydestinyawaits03 wrote:He looked at me suspiciously; "You're not on drugs are you? You seem fidgety."
You ought to have a period instead of a semi-colon.

Keep on writing-
Kaedee :)

These were autumn mornings, the time of year when kings of old went forth to conquest; and I, never stirring from my little corner in Calcutta, would let my mind wander over the whole world.
