I would like to say, before you rip this work to pieces, that I intentionally used poor grammar and huge run-on sentences in parts of this piece. I did that to emphasize the fact that it is a dream, so you don't have to bother about telling me where I should have placed commas and where I should have ended those sentences for the tenth time. I am trying it out, and I am not sure if it's good, but I accept, and would like, criticism. Thank you.
I walk in a narrow alley with cobblestones in the ground beneath my feet. I am not alone because there is a group of people that surround me and they are complete strangers but I know deep inside of me that I know them and that everything makes sense even when I feel so alone in this crowded place. There's no point in knowing who they are anyway because we keep walking forward and uphill from the alley and onto the street where are several places that could be restaurants or stores but I don't pay attention to them because I know that they don't matter. My attention goes to a person that comes up to me but I cannot really focus on his features or clothes and I know that there's something wrong because the man looks just like everyone else except there is something wrong about him. He is giving me a strange feeling and I know he must go away. He gets closer to me and I automatically know what to do because it's something I always do in this kind of situation. I actually can't think of any other situation like this that I've been in before because everything before and after this moment don't matter and I don't even waste time thinking about it. I look at the man and my brain goes on automatic function as my face changes and becomes something so horrible that the man gets scared and turns and runs away.
Then everyone seems to be a threat just like the man was and I can't stop myself from scaring the people so they go away and I am safe again. But I know that I'm not really like that and it's just an illusion because I can do that kind of thing and put images that don't exist in people's minds because that's the superpower I have. I keep advancing and there are others that I don't scare because they are my friends even if I don't know them but we walk together as if we had known each other for all our lives and it's not true but I don't care because it's not important. I keep scaring people with my monster face that is actually an illusion but my group is leaving me so I run to catch up with them and leave the other people behind but now there is another man that is coming and I use my powers on him and I see what he should see because my face is changing but he's not running away so I realize that my powers aren't working and then it hits me that this man is one of the people that can't be affected by that kind of powers so I can't do anything to him. He walks towards me and hits me and sends me flying and I know that I can't do anything to him but I keep trying anyway. I try and try and try but I can't seem to do anything to him and then I'm sitting down in the restaurant from the corner of the alley that I had seen before and everyone is deciding what to order but all I'm doing is pointing at my glass of water with my hand and the air around it gets cold and the water freezes and I make it unfreeze and freeze again several times and I hope somebody notices but nobody does so I stop using my superpower. I had forgotten about the man that I had been fighting outside before I was in the restaurant and I didn't know what had happened and how the fight had turned out but the man walks in the restaurant and I recognise him right away and I get up and I try to freeze him and it works but not completely and he's fighting back and I wish I had a more useful power that wasn't just freezing.
But I wasn't freezing him a while ago. I was trying to put things in his head. That was my superpower. Why did it switch? Superpowers? This can't be real…
I keep trying to fight him but all I can do it freeze his feet to the ground but he keeps coming back at me and what my conscience just thought is true and nothing makes sense because my powers changed and why am I fighting this man in the first place? There is no reason why I should be fighting anybody so why am I even doing everything and why am I with people I don't know and I am unsure so my brain actually starts functioning and I understand that it wasn't my conscience that was making me act the whole time but it was actually my subconscious that made up the whole scenario and it was actually my conscious that is trying to tell me something that I can't understand because this isn't real and nothing makes sense.
It's not real. It is a dream. But don't wake up. There is no point in it. Keep going. Go against the system. Try to control your emotions, decide how the dream will go. Fight back.
And suddenly, my conscious and my subconscious are the same, working together. Everything focuses even more, and I start to understand what is happening. It's just a dream. The brain controls the dream. So use that power. Use it, because it is stronger than any superpower ever. Why couldn't I beat the man before? Why couldn't I have a more useful superpower? The man is supposed to beat me. But he won't. I rule the system now.
This realization comes in a fraction of a second and the man hasn't moved, but now he comes back to strike me again. However, I am ready for it now, and I spread my hand towards him and he goes flying to a wall. Telekinesis. That is the best power I can have. Now that I defeated the man, everyone else is angry, and they are all attacking me. My brain sends a wave that sends everybody sprawling back. The world starts swirling, the restaurant turning to dust, and I levitate out through a hole in the ceiling. There is light everywhere around me, but before everyting turns white, I notice something down where the restaurant used to be. It is merely the silhouette of a man, but it bothers me. It shouldn't be here, in my dream. I took control and banished everything, consciously so. But that figure remains. I try to go back down there, but the dream is already much too modified, and there is no longer any subconscious activity in it, so I must go back to the real world. Everything around me becomes a flash.
I wake up, dazzled, my heart beating at an incredible speed. Dreams always seemed to end when you got to the interesting part, and even though the whole dream had been awesome, I am intrigued by that silhouette, that had made an impression on my mind, as if it were a red-hot poker that had marked me, and I know it will never leave me. But I tell myself that it must not matter, for it was just a dream.
But just as lies are never far from the truth, dreams are never far from reality…

Hi there
First, I really like the idea of writing this like a dream. It’s interesting and new, and I think it worked. Although the grammar monster in me is screaming about the run-on sentences, I understand why you did it. I actually think it made the dream more dream-like. Kudos to you on that.
Although this is the beginning of a novel, I also think it would do fine as a short story. The air of mystery surrounding the ending is very intriguing. Left alone it would (and did) sent the reader’s imagination into a frenzy. But if you decided to continue the story, it made a good puller-in thingamajig (please excuse the temporary brain lapse).
I also REALLY liked the last line, because it is very true. I can usually relate my dreams to something happening in my life, even if it is minor.
The first paragraph did get a little long, but that could easily be fixed by separating it into two or three paragraphs.
Good job!

Hello.
I really like this story for the fact thatit's real. That kind of stuff happens in my dreams and whenever I wake up, I know I could've controlled the situation. In fact, I'm sure this happens to everyone so in a way, your story is generic. But the way you WROTE the story is different, I've never seen something like this before and thats neither good nor bad.
I know you explained about the run-on sentences, but you really could've made the story into different paragraphs. Reading one giant block of story gets kind of boring after a while.
