Skidia Forever, Chapter Four: Eleven Heirs of Scorvile

“Man, Skidia do you think that you can give me a hand on cleaning this mess?” Luster asked as he inspected the damage of the battle. Skidia scanned the rooms quickly and sighed.

“Hey, it’s not my fault for making all of these broken, smashed things.” Skidia whined. Luster groaned as he started to pick up the broken pieces of the china vase. He winced when he accidentally cut himself with a jagged side. Skidia saw this and took a little box out of her pocket. She opened the latch and revealed several fuzzy green pads. She took one out and took out a transparent bottle filled with a material that looked a bit like water and poured a few drops of it onto the pad. Luster looked interested.

“Luster, hand out.” Skidia commanded, Luster reluctantly stuck out his hand. Skidia saw a tape dispenser on a broken table so she tore a piece of it off with her fangs and she taped the pad onto the cut.

“Hey! This stings!” Luster cried out as he tried to tear the stinging pad off of his skin though he wasn’t successful since Skidia tugged his arm away from the pad.

“Luster, don’t take it off, it’ll sting a bit for about an hour but then it’ll go away! So don’t take it off!” Skidia shouted as she and Luster wrestled.

“Oh yeah? Do you call almost tearing off my skin stinging a little bit?!” Luster then shoved Skidia on the glass scattered floor. He ripped off the pad and stared angrily at Skidia. Skidia got up, she seemed different now, and her yellow eyes looked like a wolf’s eyes, angry and deadly. Luster suddenly started to see blood drip from her blue claws, he then rubbed his eyes and saw that there wasn’t any blood. He wondered why he was remembering the wild look of Skidia when she fought Yanka and the look of blood on her claws.

Luster started to back away, his eyes wide opened. Skidia’s short fangs seemed to get slightly longer and her eyes flamed with anger. She then ran over to an open window and leapt out. Luster then realized what he had done. Skidia was just trying to help him but he had shoved her offers down so she had left with a furious expression on her face. Luster felt bad for making Skidia feel bad.

After cleaning up some of the damage Luster went to put her sister in bed so he could have said it was all a dream when she asked about Yanka. Luster then collapsed into one of his sister’s cushioned rocking chairs and fell fast asleep. When Luster woke up he found out it was about one. He looked weary and saw that his little sister had not yet awoken. Luster stretched a bit and started downstairs to work on the bathroom and hallway. But when he reached there he found that everything was back to normal. The carpet was not scattered with china, the vase was all nice and new, it seemed as is Yanka hadn’t even been there. Luster raced upstairs and ran into his room the closet and been repaired and his desk papers looked organized and the rug was in its place and wasn’t covered in blood or anything. Luster stood there wide eyed.

“Who did all of this?” Luster gasped. He sped around inspecting everything. He hoped that it wasn’t all a dream. He then saw Skidia on the window sill. He gasped, had Skidia forgiven him about the argument or was this another weird part of the dream?

“Skidia?” that was all Luster could manage to croak. He was bewildered.

“Luster, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to get mad at you or anything.” Skidia sighed. Luster looked confused. Skidia jumped down and she dusted her jeans. Her eyes looked softer though they seemed to be sort of different. They looked the same to Luster but the feeling was different. Luster felt uneasy for an unknown reason, he didn’t even know why this odd feeling came over him. Skidia seemed much nicer and slightly different. She wasn’t really herself.

“Skidia?” Luster asked, Skidia looked confused. Her yellow eyes looked so confused.

“Um, right!” she stuttered, Luster just stared and told her to come with him. When they reached downstairs Luster immediately offered Skidia some licorice. Skidia took one whiff at it and gagged.

“No way! That substance is terrible!” she screeched and jumped out of a wooden chair. Luster thought that this was weird. He knew for a fact that Skidia loved licorice and he wondered why she had turned down the kind offer so quickly. He had never seen Skidia act this way before. Skidia was observing his actions carefully with darting eyes and she took glances at their surroundings as if she hadn’t been in his house before.

“Oh Skidia I almost forgot about that weird Yanka dude. Is it true that you are a princess? I mean a heir of Tornka?” Luster questioned curiously.

“Oh sure, I’m a heck of a good one too.” Skidia responded with a nervous expression on her face. Luster sat down on a red cushioned stool.

“Skidia, is Yanka a guy from some sort of a gang that’s out to get you?” Luster continued. Skidia seized the moment to explain about the Scorchvis.

“Yeah, there are eleven of them but since one of them is down there’s only ten left. You see the oldest is named Cohray, and the second is named Sannon, the third is Grap, fourth Pyro, fifth Tarnfa, sixth Paron, seventh Kai, eighth Kincha, ninth is Yanka the one we faced. The tenth one is Onin and the eleventh is well Quin. They all have some skills. Some of them can create fire and water or even ice and electricity from nothing. They are expert killers and can murder a whole organization in one single night even one of them can destroy a whole city by him or herself. So you better be prepared alright?” Skidia explained. She had taken out a sheet of paper and wrote out a messy chart.

“Hey, don’t you always say zeh before you say a heir’s name?” Luster wondered aloud, Skidia was silent for a few seconds but then continued.

“Ah yes but I didn’t feel like it at the time so I decided to change. Oh and about the heirs they aren’t on Earth yet or at least I’m pretty sure they aren’t.” Skidia added hastily. Luster raised an eyebrow. He wanted to say something but he didn’t have the courage to say it. What if he was wrong? What would Skidia do? Would she be offended or be angry once again?

“Skidia, are you lying to me?” he choked out. Skidia’s eyes widened.

“What do you mean?” she said a bit too quickly.

“Well the real question is, are you really Skidia?” Luster shouted while pointing a finger at her. Luster gulped some air in and waited for Skidia to yell at him angrily but instead Skidia stood there, looking down. Her long bangs covered her eyes so he couldn’t see what her expression was.

“Congratulations Luster, I never knew that you were that smart I’ve always thought that you were quite thick.” Skidia laughed, she sounded like a boy though which made Luster freak out. He backed off and stared unbelievingly at the creature.

“Zeh Cohray!” a loud hissing voice snarled. Luster turned to see an enraged Skidia. Her claws were extended and her fangs glistened dangerously in the bright light. She was indeed furious for the first heir of Scorvile to impersonate her.

“Say farewell zeh Cohray, for this is the last time you will see the light of day!”

That was a very good piece. It certainly showed your skills in dialogue, and inserting a good bit of humour in there. I thought it was catchy, interesting and makes me want to read more! I would be careful though, as too much dialogue, not enough action or narrative (even though loathed) may put a reader off.

are we even writers if we never did huge research and used none of it?
