It’s Christmas time
But the Christmas lights have lost their glow.
Those nostalgic carols that once brought so much joy
Are now the sound of monotony.
Meaningless tunes that have fallen
On too many deaf ears.
They sing of love and happiness
But last night the only thing I heard
Was the sound of furious neighbours
As they fought over their credit card bill.
And the only love I’ve observed
Was that of my sister’s love
For all those brightly wrapped parcels.
Christmas, the day that once meant everything
the day of magic - of change,
new beginnings and hope.
Now is just some word on a card,
with as much depth as all the cheesy christmas songs
that we're forced to sing each year.

I really liked how you gave a window of what Christmas has become for our generation. The words have deep sincerity and truth, though I wish it weren't so. I'm sorry it was such a crappy Christmas for you, if it felt that way, but expressing your emotions brought out a great poem. Bravo!
I liked the message and it was well though out and the imagery was also very good. I do feeel like though, with a non-ryhming poem It really is nessiscary to have a much tighter meter than you had, because Poetry needs structure, in order for it ti reveberate and the best poetry makes it easy to speak, to read and that makes is more accessible. Ill show you what I mean.
OVerall, I liked it, I just think if you tightened it up, you could bring it to another level
Well, a little out of season but who doesn't like a Christmas in February? But I really can relate; ever since my family moved, I just haven't felt that "magic." As for the actual writing, I think it was alright, but could also be improved. It lacks any real deeper meaning, which I think is nice to have in poetry when you can. This is such a broad topic to expand on, so do. Build onto the more emotional (rather than just the technical) aspects of it all, and I think you'll have a great poem that a lot of people can relate to.
Keep writing,

hey there,
nice poem. i didn't have much of a Christmasy Christmas so I can absolutely relate. I think it is a brilliant poem, it hits that artistic stop within me. It really vividly explains how fake certain holidays are becoming and the way we forget what they are all about. And that the picture that was painted about Christmas being an amazing time for everyone isn't real. We all celebrate it in different ways but some families lack the happiness that really makes the holidays fun. I have no real complaints just that I found these two lines a bit awkward:
''Was that of my sister’s love
For all those brightly wrapped parcels."
i know you are trying to say that the only love there was was your sister's love for the presents but maybe you can change that part a tad bit to make it flow better.
"Was my sister's love
For all the wrapped parcels" perhaps. just a suggestion. but all in all Bravo!
