Grandad

You taught me so much,
loving me as you made a sandwich for lunch.
"want one son?" you would ask.
"Sure" gramps I would reply.
Never knowing one day you would die.

Staying the night at your house was the best.
Showing me old things kept in the cedar chest.
always telling me "you aint lucky, your blessed."
You told me about the Bible and what it told,
even though you had problems of your own.

You had the best jokes, even till this day.
Never thought I'd tell them when you were away,
but now its what I got left.
I lost you when I was to young,
I still need help on some of lifes test.

You'd be so disappointed in some things of done.
Just some sad excuses to have some fun.
Thats why I want you back so bad
even if it was just for one little chit chat.
Oh and by the way, I kept the recliner where you once sat.

I know your in heaven looking down now.
Hoping one day I can see you again,
and get a "big bear hug" like you use to give.
I need to quit now, the tears are beginning to start,
till that day you'll always be in my heart.

Oh. My. God.
This is the first poem on this site ever that made me tear up just from reading it. Wow. I loved it's simplicity and it's easy flow. It didn't seem forced, and I like the rhyme scheme. Let some other reviewer do the nit-picks, I love this poem. GOOD FRICKIN JOB!!!
