"Do you believe in love at first sight?" was the question we discussed during an English class, when we were talking about the love between Miranda and Ferdinand in William Shakespeare's The Tempest. For those of you who do not know the story, Miranda is the daughter of an old, defeated king, and Ferdinand is the son of the current, powerful king. Two enemies, and two lovers, like in Romeo and Juliet. As it happens in most Shakespearean plays, the couple sees each other and falls in love at first sight.
When the teacher asked this question to class, I had no answer, realizing I had never asked this question to myself before. Then I decided that I did not believe in love at first sight, taking only a minute to come up with sufficiently legit reasons. First of all, I thought that in order to love someone, you had to get to know her; it was not just simple to love. Then of course, like most couples, you had to be hanging out as "just friends" until you felt something special for each other. Lack of experience I have, never having had a "more than just friend" before... Still, I knew what an actual love would look like. Putting together my ideas in my head, to answer the teacher...
Bell.
Three days after this, was a conference for young writers, which I had to volunteer in, you know, for crowd control and other stuff. I had been volunteering for that organization for quite a while, more than a year. Though never really had a chance to meet with people who work with me.
Anyway, it was the date of that conference. I was supposed to introduce a guest speaker to the audience, who were excited young writers. And I was going to have a partner for this introduction.
A girl...
A girl with whom we had been working in the same organization, but have not yet met.
It was the night before the conference when she sent me a message, a "friendly reminder" for the conference, saying that we were partners to introduce the guest speaker.
Everything was alright. I was prepared for the introduction.
But there was something special in her message. Something I had never realized before in any other person. She was so friendly, although we didn't really know each other.
The next day, conference. First "Hi."
Everything was alright. But... But no, something was not! I saw something special in her; both beauty and kindness; the beauty inside. That was the time when I first fell in love at first sight... First time in my life... Was this really love? Well, I didn't know the answer then. But today, it's been almost a week since the conference and I still can't stop myself thinking about her...
Now, I was ready to answer my teacher. Yes ma'am, I do believe in love at first sight, even though it seems impossible to be with her... Not star-crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet, but only lovers who usually see each other once a month in the meetings of that organization. Yeah, that's us... Or at least, only me...

This is cute. i enjoyed reading this and fascinating because i haven't expected that this article will come from a man's point of view. felt different but sweet at the same time.
How nice would it be to hear that you're getting along after the conference,..
=)
hi there ! i like it. do you believe in love at first sight? reading the topic, anyone would run this question in their mind first. there is life in this article.it is good. i would like to tell you few things.
Lack of experience I have, never having had a "more than just friend" before... Still, I knew what an actual love would look like. there is some confusion in tenses here.
"it was the date of that conference." i think "the" would be better than "that". if this line doesn't mean the discussion was about the date of the conference it better be day.
your work is really nice. i enjoyed reading. good luck, keep going.
Aw, I like this! Thanks for telling a little about yourself
stay strong though i know this must be frustrating for you, or at least it is for me. I've always believed in love at first sight and I keep telling myself I had it. I wrote him a note saying I liked him, not love at first sight, I'm not stupid. But the few times I saw him he didn't say anything to me...and now I haven't seen him in a month. So...I guess I wanted to tell you... to let you know you're not alone? I hope something happens between you and her. Oh and I would say "a girl with whom I had been working in the same organization, but hadn't yet met." Anyways obviously you can tell, I like your piece!
Thanks for your reply on my first essay as a new member on the blog... And I hope you find the love with him as well.
