Weak

Does it show?

That I don't know where to go.

Half blinded and scared

I was not prepared.

I noded,

But I was not sure.

"You have to be strong"

Isn't  that the rule?

Does it show?

That I'm not stong,

But so insecure.

Something's wrong.

Come and save me.

Please don't blame me,

Bale me out.

Don't shout.

And please don't tell me.

I don't want them to know

about the embarassing feeling of weakness.

We can only write well about the things we are familiar with; things we love, we hate, we fight for, we fight with; things we enjoy talking about and things we think is important to talk about.

I belong here. Here is where it all happened, even when I was not really here, here is where my heart longs to be. Here is where I don’t have to look around to see if anyone is looking. This is me. This is where the stars always shine and the night sky feels very close. This is my home.
Dim light and strangers passing by these narrow streets remind me of happiness. I often think about these strangers because I don’t think strangers is what they really are. When is it that strangers stop being strange and start being familiar instead? You were never a stranger. Is it in a moment you give that look to each other; the moment when you secretly share your worlds for a second? They are not strangers, they are friends we’ve never met.
I often come here when I forget who I am. I come here when I forget that all I was ever meant to be is a fool – knowing who I am, what I want and what I don’t want, being unhappy and trying to find an answer is not a part of it. That is not a part of me and I’m willing to let it go. I’m willing to let you go.
There is an old black streetlamp above me. I never noticed how shattered it was. It reminds me of that shattered streetlamp in front of your house where we used to spend our time at, as the bright light used to make your eyes shine blissfully you used to tell me how stupid I looked like when I giggled when all you were expecting from me was to tell you I love you too. ‘’Honey,’’ you used to say ‘’it’s pretty much obvious. It’s not like you are able to hide anything from me, so please stop looking away when I’m looking at you. You look really stupid.’’ Now, the streetlamp makes me feel as if I’m caught at the spotlight and you’re looking at me from the darkness of the abyss in the distance. I can almost see you in the clouds that are guarding these lonely streets – you’re mocking at me pointing your finger and covering your mouth so that I can’t hear you. Your eyes are shining so bright and you’re refraining from coming to hug me and kiss me and telling me it’s all going to be alright because seeing me desperate as I am right now is amusing you. As the fog is moving towards me I’m trying to convince myself that you’re not there by closing my eyes and imagining the trace of thick clouds your plane left while you were inside of it, flying away from me. Finally, I am forced to find another seat.
Where are you?
In the safety of darkness, away from the shattered streetlamp I’m looking at the old market with a big sign on the old chained door which says ‘’FIND YOUR HAPPINESS’’. I close my eyes and enjoy the silence. It was a warm night in July, I recall, you had a cold and I made you go to the beach with me in the middle of the night. As I was taking my clothes off you were lying in the sand with your eyes closed so that I would get worried, I yelled your name for a couple of times - you weren’t answering so I ran to you and slapped you on the cheek. You were pretending that you were unconscious and just when I was about to call an ambulance you started laughing viciously, took me into your arms and threw me out in the sea. I was feeling so mad that I hadn’t spoken a word with you until the next day when you told me you were feeling utter happiness when you are near me. I remember that few minutes later I told you I am happy when you are, so we both smiled shyly and finally you leaned forward to kiss me.
I thought I had found my happiness. I searched the world to find it. All I could find was you, and now, when I let you go, I search the place where it always was. In me.

Today, I’m leaving you behind. I open my eyes.

You gave almost all of yourself into us but there was still just a little more that needed to be given. That little was missing in the moments when I needed your trust, when I ran out of words to describe how I’m feeling, when you couldn’t understand what it was like when you were away. However, that little was always a little too much to ask and a little too much to give. If that little was taken away from you, it would’ve been it – you would’ve been mine. That’s why you never gave it to me and that’s what I’ve never forgiven you for.
The night before the last one I didn’t say a thing. I was silent and it was hurting you so bad that I could almost feel your pain. Tears were streaming down your face and all you had to do was to keep quiet. Not to talk. ‘’What the hell is wrong with you,’’ you shouted angrily ‘’ just say it! What’s wrong with you?!’’’ I cried and after a while, when I was sure you were sleeping tight lying on the kitchen floor, I finally managed to answer your question. ‘’I’m madly in love with you.’’
Nevertheless, I’m smiling, looking at the shadows playing in front of me. I’m not being happy. You weren’t the happiness I was looking for.

I have to let you go.

You used to tell me that you love me because I’m so simple. And yet simplicity is something you took away from me. This is where I’m going back to what I am. I’m going back to the moments of silence and the faces that are not strange. I’m going back to find the simplicity I’ve lost.

Where are you?
I let you go.
Gentle melodies are coming to my head and I know that this is all I ever dreamed of.
Where are you?
I open my eyes and someone smiles to me. I feel weird because not one question comes to my head. Not one doubt. I smile back.
I close my eyes. I let you go. Are you here?
Don’t you see those yellow lights from across the sea we used to talk about so much? The reflection of the sky in the sea and sea in the sky still makes me feel so small. This is something I still half believe in.
You’re not here. I’m not leaving. I’m here and yet so gone away from you.
I let you go.

Hi Luca, I'm going to review your poem today.
I'm not that much of a poet, but I'll do my best. I'll try to be patient. XD

First off, I'd like to point out that 'noded' should be 'nodded' and 'stong' should obviously be 'strong'. It happens, it's fine. Just thought that you should know. ;)

~Does it show?
That I don't know where to go.
Half blinded and scared
I was not prepared.

Already in the beginning you mannaged to put your feelings in it. I love it how you describe yourself as an insecure and scared using so little words. And using a question.

~I noded,
But I was not sure.
"You have to be strong"
Isn't that the rule?

Love this one the most. It's just amazing.

~Does it show?
That I'm not stong,
But so insecure.
Something's wrong.

I absolutely love the last verse. It's a key moment in the poem.

One little thing - I don't quite like the last verse of the last stanza. I felt like it didn't fit. I don't know. Maybe it's just me.
However, I enjoyed your poem very much. I'm curious for more! :D

One more thing - it says that this a script. I don't know if you have done it on purpose, but I thought you might want to know.

tnq klara, I thought you may like it :)) "It happens, it's fine." thank you for the consolation ;))

I really enjoyed it, but i'd like to point out that you spelled nodded wrong, and you used the wrong kind of bale. I believe you where looking for bail. I also believe you where looking for strong instead of stong.

tnq for the corrections :))

I quite well like this *nods* mmh hmm! :D
One tiny pick would be errr..thy spelling of "nodded" you've got 'noded'. Undoubtedly a typo but hey, I'm totally normal for being bugged by that -.-
:D

I liked the rhyme scheme of the fourth stanza though it made me wonder if you couldnt have put it in a mors structured rhyme scheme.
It is fine the way it is though- I fully appreciate a free verse; I am apt at those myself >.>
Yea.. I got all your feeeeellls right there and that was just beautiful. So thank you for a refreshing read. Really though this is applicable in so many situations; many would be able to empathise.

Keep writing!

Hi :) I'm glad you liked my poem. About the fourth stanza, I was trying to make it different, but maybe I should have done it some other way. Anyway, thank you for the review :D

today we are possible.
