The Embers Glow Again

E - Everyone

In out of nowhere

The lamp burns low, the night is wide, and still the embers glow again;
what love has lost, the loving heart will find a way to sow again.

Grief is a river carving stone, it hollows out a place so deep
that one day, quiet as a prayer, the rain has room to flow again.

I have been ash, and I have been the wind that scattered all the ash;
ask the burnt field in the spring what it was brave enough to grow again.

Do not tell me what is finished. The tide has never learned that word;
it leaves the shore a thousand times, and still returns, as if to know again.

Those we lose do not leave us; they turn to light that bends around our days,
and in the hush of evening, I feel their hands move slow again.

O heart, you ask too many questions of the stars. Be still, be brave:
whoever learns to love the dark will watch the morning show again.

I love this poem. Firstly I love the language, it's so rich and deep it really makes you feel the emotion within the piece. Another thing I absolutely love is the use of real life details like the tide and ashes which help the reader connect the story to actual life. The ending is super powerful too.

Overall I love it and it's so emotional. I hope you continue writing because you're amazing at it

I really love how this poem shows that even after losing someone or going through grief theres still hope for things to get better. the imagery is so beautiful and the way the lines keep coming back to the idea of growing again makes it feel comforting and meaningful. honestly this poem is genuinely so lovely and peaceful!!
