The End of The World

The end of the world is near,
in a year it will be here.
I certainly hope it is not true,
for there are many things I mean to do.

The end of the world is near,
in a month it will be here.
Before then, I will fly to a distant place
and try something new, I must make haste.

The end of the world is near,
in a week it will be here.
Should I run? Should I hide?
But why even bother to decide?

The end of the world is near,
in a day it will be here.
I have sold my house, I have sold my car
because neither possession will get me far.

The end of the world is near,
in an hour it will be here.
I brace myself to say goodbye
I regret all I did and did not try.

The end of the world has past,
the Earth still spins, there was no blast.
I have no money, not a dime,
but I am grateful I still have time.

I liked this poem :). It was simple, ryhmed well, and was fun to read =P.

Some suggestions:
I love the count down, I love the easy flow, too, but just a couple errors that I noticed:
"I have no money, not a dime..." I understand that it rhymes well, but just think that you would have alot of money from selling the house and car. But that's me being picky lol.
But I like how it rhymes well :).

Their were not many errors I saw that really stood out to me besides that, though.

Some good things about this poem:
What you said so made sense to me, because if the world was ending, what you said would be totally what I would do!

Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see what you write next ^.^.

Thank you for reading my poem!

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe I didn't catch the "I have no money, not a dime..." thing, aghhh duh!

:) Thanks for the feedback.

Funny and light, despite the title. I like the tone, and the repetitive countdown of the first two lines of each stanza, gradually approaching the end of the world.
However, I think this repetition, though good in some ways, may be a bit too much. It means that almost exactly half of the whole poem is repetition, which is really not good. The second lines of each stanza are good, because they aren't precisely copied, but the first line

"The end of the world is near,"

starts each of the five stanzas before the very last one, which only changes this line by two words. This is more the part that doesn't work. Definitely keep the countdown, though; that adds to the funny part.

I also found a couple of sort of contradictions in the poem:

"Should I run? Should I hide?
But why even bother to decide?"

This shows in the speaker that they don't want to put much effort into it if it's all going to be gone anyways. Why even bother? Everything will be obliterated soon. And then there's

"I have sold my house, I have sold my car
because neither possession will get me far."

which describes the speaker putting a whole lot of effort into it, even though they won't have much use for the money they make, either. Theird possessions are either destroyed next to somebody else or destroyed next to them. Does this matter?

Then, if they did make money selling their valuable possessions, they would still have money if the end of the world didn't happen, right?

"I have no money, not a dime,
but I am grateful I still have time."

They would probably have more than a dime.

Anyways, I enjoyed the hilarity and simplicity in this poem. Keep writing! :)

I was worried the repetitiveness might be overboard, I will take that into consideration!

As for the "Why should I bother to decide" I think I messed up the order and it would make more sense if I put it after getting rid of the car and house part.

Thank you!! :D

The end of the world is near,
in a year it will be here.
I certainly hope it is not true,
for there are many things I mean to do.
... Well that's what all websites and tv channels ... even people were talking about the past year...
The end of the world is near,
in a month it will be here.
Before then, I will fly to a distant place
and try something new, I must make haste.
if its date was through a month... I would sell my house, my blackberry, my laptop everything,,, as I think everyone would do,,, but who would sell who ?
I think we will have to enjoy any way... everyone will compromise...

The end of the world is near,
in a week it will be here.
Should I run? Should I hide?
But why even bother to decide?

yes. if it would stop spinning after a week, everything would be messy like hell... we won't be able to move or do anything.. this is the way I imagine

The end of the world is near,
in an hour it will be here.
I brace myself to say goodbye
I regret all I did and did not try.

In an hour, this is when you think of all things wrong you have made, all mistakes, flaws... want everybody just to forgive you... everybody would wish the same, as if there is another world, and we would move and live forever or at least as we deserve...

The end of the world has past,
the Earth still spins, there was no blast.
I have no money, not a dime,
but I am grateful I still have time...
Well, I think this is what gonna happen in fact, I like the fact that you truly think it's not gonna end.. It will still spin around for it's fate to stop which we don't know when... and at that time, I think everyone would be happy and feel like moving on, cuz it's a problem for so many people subconsciously...

For yor style, I like the flow was easy... your purpose reached inside us clearly easily...

I suggest you keep writing ^^

Ilham
