Nowhere to escape to.

No place to hide.

Just shove it down further.

Deeper inside.

---------------------------------

So what if it brings me

A sense of despair?

You've got nowhere to go,

And no one who cares.

---------------------------------

They won't understand you.

They'll think you're insane.

Your troubles, your burdens,

Only bring more pain.

---------------------------------

Just shove it down further.

Deeper inside.

No one will hear you, Dear.

The Voice, inside me, lies.

I very much enjoyed your poem and thought it was very well written!

From my interpretation, the " voice that lies " symbolizes depression as it causes you to think there is no hope. It makes this poem seem very deep and real.

I like the depiction with the line "just shove it down further". Personally I like poems that repeat so that was something that stuck out to me. That line really portrays the idea of pushing away your feelings and trying not to share them with anyone...keeping everything bottled up inside.

Overall I thought this was a very nice poem. I would pave loved for there to have been more because I really liked reading this price of writing.

Hi there! True here for a review.

This is a very powerful poem and touches something very personal.
Most of your lines are one sentences but I think some should have been replaced by commas unless you intended each line to be a complete sentence each.
For example:
"They won't understand you.

They'll think you're insane."

Because those two lines are 'related' to each other, a comma after the first line would create a nicer flow than a full stop.

"So what is it brings me" this line in particular could be phrased slightly differently since I sounds quite awkward to me but I do know what you are trying to say. If I were to read it how I understood it, there should be a comma after 'So'.

The only issue I have really is punctuation but that can easily be sorted :)

Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your piece and your style is great!

Keep up the good work and I will look forward to reading your future works

Thanks for the review!!!

I absolutely love this!

Really, the only thing I can find to critique is the last line for the last two stanzas - "Only bring more pain" and "The Voice, inside me, lies." The lines themselves are good, but they both have one too many syllables, so it throws the rhythm made by the earlier stanzas off.

This is one of the best poems I've read so far on this website. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I'm not much of a poetry writer, but occasionally I try it again.

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
