okay this is a story i wrote just because i was in a random mood and felt like writing. this is only chapter one. chapter two is underway. i will accept criticism as long as its not pathetic. this is a fun story so dont try to anayze it either. ^_^ rock on
Emily sighed and stared sadly at the back of Jadyns neck. It was a very nice neck. Very well built, nicely exercised. Although Emily still wasn’t quite sure how someone would go around exercising their neck, but as soon as she found out, she would most certainly make an exercise centre specialising in necks. But for now, she just had to live with life. Life being dealing with the fact that she had to stare at the back of Jaydns neck for the next hour and a half. Not that she cared, but it was unfortunately a very painful ordeal. Especially now.
“MISS Emily Tyhaul. Would you care to tell me the answer to my question, or are to busy staring at the back of mister Daniels neck?” asked her teacher Mr Malone.
Emily heard sniggering from each corner of the room as she felt the blood rushing up her face. Which was odd since the whole room was deserted except for two or three people sitting in front of her, not including Jadyn, aka Mr Daniels. But she didn’t let that worry her.
“Um, what question Sir? I thought this was detention. Aren’t we just supposed to, you know, sit around for a bit?”
More sniggers echoed around the room. This time she got annoyed.
“RIGHT!” she yelled spinning around in her chair, to face the empty room behind her “Who keeps doing that?! Its very, very annoying. And I’d appreciate it a lot, if you’d cut it out.” She snapped angrily. She paused. The laughter stopped, ashamed. “Thank you.” And turned around again, this time to face a very confused looking bunch of people. Actually, the majority of those people usually did look confused, but that was beside the point.
“Dude.” Said one of the stoned looking guys. Probably a regular for detention. “What’s up with the crazy chick. Man, she’s like, talking to no one.”
She glared at him, then straightened her hair down with her hands, and carefully folded them into her lap. Finally she sighed, and looked up at the teacher, who was now looking at her in a new way. Kind of like a, is this girl insane? way.
“Um.” He said with a waver in his voice. “Yes, yes of course, do whatever you want…” he looked at her expectantly, as if looking for approval. “Um.”
She raised her eyebrows. Dude, what was up with a teacher? What a freak.
“Um, okay. So, can we like, go now? The bells rung.”
“Yes! Yes of course!” He cried out flustered. “Just, just Go!” he picked up the papers on his desk and ran out of the room quickly, papers flying all over the floor.
There was a silence as everyone stared at the door. Emily stood up pushing in her chair.
“Right,” she said raising her eyebrows again. She looked at the rest of the class who were still looking dumbfounded. “What, a weirdo.” And walked out of the class.
They didn’t care. Detention wasn’t even supposed to be over.
The goblins stared at each other. This was new. No human had ever spoken to them before or realised they were there, except for Johnny Henderson and he just turned out to be a very tall goblin .They didn’t know what to do. So they thought. They thought for a long time. They were good at thinking. They took much pride in their thinking, it was very nice thinking. They had good structure of thought, and were very famous for there spectacular, though entirely useless, thought. Of course, they didn’t think to find a solution, they just thought because they did. Soon after their long hours of thought, they realised they still didn’t know what to do .So they went to the King Dyair.
“Oh King Dyair. Wonderful, kind King Dyair. We have a problem, and are in search of your great wisdom.” Their tiny voices chorused together.
King Dyair thought, for a long time.
“Okay.” He said wisely after a long time of thinking. “What be your problem of such great proportions.”
One of the goblins stepped forward. And he told of their great problem.
“There was a female human, when we were venturing to the great city of School. We were observing the humans behaviour, in what looked like a type of worship of a god, they were all very very silent. There were five of them, maybe six, one Big one, who seemed to be in charge. We believe they were calling the big one, a ‘Malone’. Well, they were laughing, at a joke we think. Something the female human had said. So we also laughed, to experience the joy they were experiencing. And then she spoke to us. She told us to be silent. What shall we do O King?”
The king pondered this for a very long time.
“Well, obviously it is a case of uh, erm, it’s a case of leadership! Yes leadership, that’s it. The female human, has taken on the position of a leader to us all, to guide us in this new time, of troubles and hardship.” He said happy with himself for this great revelation.
The goblins all nodded in praise for their King. They weren’t aware of any troubles or hardship at this time, but it was as their King had spoken, so they would be sure that they would make some troubles and hardship for their new leader. They were satisfied.
‘But, I am still King, right?’
They were all gone.
Jadyn sauntered along the corridor, throwing smiles and grins to all his friends, and winks and leers to all the girls. And then he was stopped. By a teacher.
“Mr Daniels. May I see you in my office for a second?”
He grunted. Yes.
The teacher lead him into her office.
“Now Jaydn, I understand, that you have been, well, not really failing, but not doing very well in class?” she asked in a nice as possible voice.
He grunted.
“Look, I’m afraid if you don’t start doing better in class, we’re going to have to get you to stop all your extra curriculum activities.”
Jadyn looked temporarily confused.
“Um,” said the teacher. “Like, Sports, or anything else you do that is non school related.” She explained carefully.
He grunted again.
“Um, well, I suppose you can go now,” she said at a loss for words. Never in all her many years of teaching had she come across someone who could grunt so much, and not talk at all. “Goodbye, and remember what I’ve said.”
He grunted and walked out.
Emily lay on her bed staring down at the little people who had suddenly started following her around at school. She couldn’t have stayed at school obviously, for risk of people locking her up for insanity, or for risk of exposing the little people. But mostly the insanity thing. So she had decided to go home for the day. And get rid of these people. Who had also started calling her O queen, and great one. She didn’t mind that part really.
“So.” She said sitting up. Immediately all the little people stopped talking and there was a deathly silence in the room. Right, thought Emily.
“What are you all doing here.”
One of the little people stepped forward.
“You are our new Queen, O great one. You are the Leader of us Goblins.”
Emily looked down at the apparent ‘goblin’ who had spoken.
“Um, what?”
“You are our queen.”
“Why?”
“…”
The goblin stopped.
“But surely you must know!”
“Uh, if I knew, why would I be asking?”
“…”
The goblin stopped again, and suddenly all the goblins stopped too. Emily wasn’t quite sure how they had managed to do that. They hadn’t been doing anything but then somehow they managed to stop doing nothing. She looked down at them.
“Um, hello?” she asked.
The goblins all appeared to be in deep thought. Very deep thought. Emily sighed and lay back down on her bed. She had a feeling that this would take a very long time.
An hour later, literally, she had been counting, the goblins spoke.
“You are our queen, because, because, Um…”
Emily groaned.
“Don’t tell me after all that thinking you guys have just done that you don’t actually know anything! What on earth were doing then! Because you obviously weren’t thinking of my question!!!” she yelled angrily.
The goblins looked at each other for a second, then all fell down onto the floor sobbing and begging for mercy.
“Oh for goodness sakes!” she yelled frustrated and stormed out of the room. She came back in.
“Look.” She said. “I’m not your Queen. I’m not your leader. I’m just a girl, who is skipping and failing school. So please, leave me alone, and go, I don’t know, play with some fairies.”
All the goblins gasped.
“What now?” she said warily.
Another one of the goblins stepped forward.
“The fairies are our deadly enemies. Even as we speak, there is a terrible war going on.”
“Oh.” Said Emily.
“I’ve got it!” yelled one of the goblins.
Everyone turned to him.
“She is our leader and queen because the King said so!”
Everyone cheered and started dancing. Well, not really dancing, it looked more like running around the room and every so often falling over and slapping eachother’s noses.
“Right.” Said Emily.
“So you guys have a King? Then you don’t need me. He’s your leader not me.”
“But of course.” Said one of the Goblins. “Every King needs a Queen.”
“WHAT!?!?” yelled Emily. “You want me to marry a Goblin!!! I am not marrying and Goblin!!! You’re all mad!”
There was another silence.
“Oh.” Said the goblins.
“Well,” said one of them. “You are still our leader. That is what he said. You are to lead us out of them troubling times we are going to face.”
Emily groaned. “This is mad.”
There was a small silence.
“Oh.” the said.
She sighed. “Look, I’m not your queen. You don’t need a queen. I mean, you all look happy enough right now, and you have a perfectly…uh good King so you don’t need me.”
“But we need you to help us with the war. Many of our goblin soliders are losing now to the deadly fairies. Theyre much stronger and smarter than us. It’s really really hard.” said one of the goblins quietly.
“Oh.” she said.
Once again there was a silence.
“Okay, heres the deal. I will help you in the war okay? But once the wars over I don’t want you to bother me again okay?”
They all thought about this for a while.
“Okay.” they said finally.
She smiled. Then frowned. Vicious fairies? This was insane.
“No no no!” shouted a small grumpy looking man. His name was George Badar William Viscough Henry the IV, and he was in a very bad mood. He threw his hands up to his face and shook his head then folded his arms across his angrily. He was sitting on a elegantly decorated throne and was looking very important in a silver robe and a tall silver hat decorated with small green gems. He called it his crown but most other people called ‘that horrible thing he wears on his head.’ He was in a bad mood because as usual nothing was going right. The elves were continuing rebbelling, the pixies had joined in the war between fairies and goblins, obviously against the faries, and now he had received word that their chosen one, was a complete and utter fool. From what his scouts had picked up, he had no intellect at all, and relied basically on looks and brawn. Which in this world, would not get him anywhere.
George sighed. “Are you sure we got the right person?”
His Advisor nodded. “Yes. Im sorry your highness but the description doesn’t fit anyone else. We’ve checked millions of times now, he is the one.”
George sighed again. “Well, if that’s we’ve been given I suppose we’ll just have to accept that. I just hope to heaven that he’ll know what to do when the time comes.”
There was a silence.
“Oh and the Goblins have made human contact.”
“WHAT!?”
“Goooood Morning class!” sang out Emilys history teacher.
*Grunt grunt* relpied the class.
“Now, this morning I have some exciting news for you all.” she paused and beamed at the class as if expecting some sort of excited response.
There was none.
“I have, actually, two exciting pieces of news, one, we have a new student! And two, a new class assignment!”
If anyone was supposed to be happy at these two pieces of news, they were obviously hiding it very well. No one was extremely pleased when it came to new students, considering the last one had been a computer freak no it all who had not hesitated to tell everyone and everything that they were all stupid and incompetent, (he had found his place though after a nice beating by a jock whom he had called ignorant. The jock hadnt known what that meant but he didn’t like short nerds saying big words to him) and the one before that had been a girl who had gone around breaking up all friendships and relationships one way or another. (She had been transferred out of school after she broke up two of the teachers.)
And a class assignment? Don’t be stupid.
The teached beamed once more around the room and then walked over to the door and opened it. Just as she did the poor innocent outside dropped all the books and ran screaming down the corridor.
“Um, hello?” she called out after her.
It seemed the new student was a bit nervous on her first day.
Jaydn was walking down a corridor. He had forgotten which class he was supposed to be in, but that didn’t matter because he had detention anyway. Suddenly someone ran into him. He looked down slowly just as they looked up nervously.
“You ran into me.” he pointed out.
“Uh- uh- uh- uh- y- yeah. Um-uh-s-sorry.’
‘Why did you run into me ?’ he asked confused.
‘I didn’t mean to!’ they squeaked.
Jadyn looked at the person closer. They appeared to be female, with black hair and green eyes. And they were wearing jeans and a white t shirt.
‘Who are you?’ he said.
“Oh, Im um new.” she said slowly.
“Why do you keep stuttering?” he said, surprised at himself for using such a big word.
“I uh, don’t really know…”
“Oh.” he said and walked away.
Demi looked down the corridor and followed him with her eyes. That had been the wierdest thing that had happened to her this whole day. Wierder than running away from her first class as soon as the teacher opened the door? Okay maybe not. But either that guy had been stoned, or just really, really dumb. She was going with both options. Did he not realise that his height plus his enormous figure added up to one scary (yet hot) guy? And therefore anyone would have any right to be scared, or to stutter in front of him? But of course, as so many people had told her before, she should stop living her life off stereotypes and stop judging everyone and thing by what was portrayed in TV and books. But then again, where did the stereotypes come from? Surely there must be some truth in those well thought up type casts.
‘Oh shut up,’ thought Demi. ‘If you think too much now, youre never gonna get through the day.’
Bravely she made her way back to the classroom, that had once made her so nervous. Okay, truthfully it still did, but if she ran away screaming again, her excuse of: “there was a bee” would sound overused. She knocked on the door.
“Oh, hello.” said the teacher on the other side. “You must be…Demi.”she said, rather nervously it seemed.
Demi nodded. “Sorry about before, there was a bee and I’m allergic to bee stings.” she said smiling.
“Oh, Okay then well, take a seat over here.” she said pointing to a desk in the front.
Demi sighed. Stuck in the front again. Every single school she’d been she’d been stuck in the front. Either because she was smart, or the teacher liked her, or she had broken her glasses and couldn’t see a thing. Or, because she was new and that was the only seat left. Demi sat down and looked down at the desk. Unlike most of the other desks in this room, this one was not covered in the obscene messages that were usually scratched onto mostr desks. Probably because usually the people that sat at these desks were people who cared about the rights of desks and respecting school property. There was however, one message on her desk, which stated very intelligently, ‘Nerd Desk’.
How witty.
“Well,” said the teacher finally. “Demi, my name is Mrs Addleburg, and as you probably know, this is your history class. And today we’re studying…”
The rest flew right over Demi’s head. She didn’t know what had come over her, but for some reason she just didn’t feel like listening. Like everything that the teacher had to say was irrevelant to real life, which of course was insane because this was school!
“Everythings important in school,” thought Demi angrily.
Suddenly something hit her in the back of the head. She turned around angrily.
There was a piece of paper on the ground. She picked it up. It read:
“Ugh.” she thought. “Cant people just accept there was a bee? Its bad enough I was so uncharacteristically nervous in the first place.”
She scribbled onto the paper:
Hello IDIOT, I have a name by the way but you probably didn’t realise considering you have the brain capacity of a peanut fucktard. Now please, go away I probably ‘freaked’ out because I was so shocked at your complete stupidity.
She smiled satisfied as she threw it over her shoulder casually. Then she stopped? Had she just sworn? What had gotten into her? Usually she wouldn’t even insult people.
“Oh well,” she thought. “At least now they’ll leave me alone.”
Something else hit her head. Much harder. She spun around and looked down. There was a compass on the ground. Her eyes went wide and she looked up. There was that guy again. The one she ran into in the corridor. And he was looking very angry. How had he gotten in here? She hadnt even seen him come in. She stared at him in disbelief. How could she have annoyed probably the strongest guy in school again?
‘Oh jeez.’ she thought. ‘I’ve really made a great start at this school haven’t I?’
She turned around and picked up the compass.
“Excuse me Miss Demi?” She spun around. The teacher was standing impatiently at her desk.
“Is there any reason you find the floor so interesting?”
“Ah, no Miss, I was just uh picking up the uh, compass.” she said holding said object in front of her.
The teacher sighed. “You will come to realise, Miss Demi, as you progress into your new school year that this class, is History, probably the complete opposite, of Mathematics. Now please put that compass away and stop distracting your classmates.”
“What, but its, its not mine!” she stuttered once more helplessly.
“So what you are trying to tell me, is that you took that compass for heaven alone knows why from some innocent student?”
“N-no! It was thrown at me!”
“Ha!” the teacher laughed sadisically. “A likely story. Down to the principles office immediately please.”
Demi sat gaping at her teacher again, hearing distinct laughing from the neanderthals at the back.
“What is your problem, woman!” she cried out. “Here you are deliberately picking on me just because you feel like it! I am a victim here! Of both you and those pathetic excuses of human life in this classroom! You are the most incompetent teacher I have ever had!”
There was a silence as what Demi had said sunk in.
“Principles office. Now.” said the teacher breathing heavily.
Demi paused not believing what she had just done.
“Go!”
Emily watched as the new girl, Doom or something, ran out of the room for the second time that day. Man, she didn’t want to be her. Obviously this girl was suffering from some nervous disease thing, because she had freaked out twice. No one spoke to Ms Addleburg like that. It wasn’t that she was scary or anything, but she dated the principle and always sent people to him for doing anything wrong. And he was scary. You didn’t want to mess with him especially if it involved Ms Addleburg. She shook her head. Suddenly there was a tap on her ankle. There was a small gnome standing at her feet.
“What are you doing here?” she hissed.
“Well, I be here as your personal body guard. To make sure that no one hurts our new Queen.”
Emily groaned.
“I don’t need a body guard!” she explained. “Look, I’m perfectly fine, and no offense, but what could you protect me from? You’re a bit,” she searched for the right word.
“Small.”
The gnome looked down. “I am sorry for upsetting you My Queen, I shall be going now. Call if you need anything.” he said walking away slowly.
“Ah shit.” she muttered under her breath. “Oh, alright. You can be my uh, body guard. But just don’t get yourself into any trouble okay?”
The gnome grinned and turned back. She sighed. This was going to be so much fun. Not.
“Right.” she said. “Whats your name?”
“Tread.” he answered. “My family comes from a long line of Treads. My father was Tread, his father was Tread, his fathers father was Tread, his mothers name was Tread, and so on so forth.”
“Wait, what happened to the third Tread?”
“What?”
“Well you said your father was Tread, and his father was Tread, and his fathers father was Tread, but what was your Grandfathers name?”
“Oh his name was Clancy, after his Mothers favourite Cow.”
“Right…”
She sighed.
“Okay, I’m gonna go to lunch now. Follow me, or do whatever you do, but please, just keep out of sight okay? And don’t get in any trouble.” she said as she walked out of the classroom, quietly so that no one would hear her talking to a gnome. Because that would make her popularity go up so much.
“Omigosh!” Emilys friend cried out as she ran up to Emily.
“What?” asked Emily expecting yet another insignificant rumour that her friend seemed to be obsessed with.
“Jaydn Daniels,” she said pausing for effect, “Is MISSING!”

sorry...i will try to refrain from arguing from now on.
Both of you - no rows or verbal duelling here (in the Literary Forums) or anywhere else. More of it, and I'll have to lock the thread. And no - it doesn't matter who started it.
IMP
I liked it. It's a nice change from depressing and/or constant serious stuff. Nice to know that a sense of humour exists in the world. What were those question marks supposed to say? It might be nice if you told us what the note says.
It seems to have no real plot, but then again, 'tis "chapter one".
The teachers at that school are morons, nice one.
Okaleedoo...
Keep it up
Me.
